Daz hasn't contacted me recently asking for support, so I was a little surprised to read his message here. Updated documentation is indeed available.Derm wrote:I think its a pity that further development has been hindered by lack of support, especially when the program developer is working for no personal gain.

That's good to hear, thanks Dan. For what it's worth I did tell Korg during the beta testing of MOD-7 that my application had been broken by the changes introduced with MOD-7, and asked for the necessary information at that point.
So, yes please ... I'd like to have that information and any future information as it becomes available. I'd like to be in the loop for these things, if possible, as I am actively developing stuff for the O (albeit a little slowly due to work demands).

It's not a "lack of support", but rather a pitfall of working with a proprietary file format that is subject to change as the product develops (which is a good thing). Choosing to "deprecate an application until further notice" because it might not work as expected and that you are not in a position to fix, is the most sensible course of action.Derm wrote:I think its a pity that further development has been hindered by lack of support, especially when the program developer is working for no personal gain.
If there were cause for complaint, trust me, I would be complaining in clear and unambivalent terms ... as I have done about my pet peeves (inability to edit in multi-mode etc.)
Distributing software that knowingly doesn't work and might get worse in the future is irresponsible. In a funny way, I'd actually rather expected to be commended for not doing so. It's a difficult decision to make, when you've put a lot of effort into something and have to admit you need to suspend your efforts. Again, as I said, it's a "professional hazard" for people working with something proprietary.

As I was asked about this offline ... just wanted to clarify that the Randomizer is still alive and well. It's not subject to the same kind of problems, because it relies on knowledge that the application has learned by listening to the sysex data generated when modifying parameters on the Oasys. It's easy for me to re-train it if necessary when/if something changes.

Daz,
Since Dan seems amenable to supply you additional information, have you thought about continuing on with the librarian?
I certainly can't speak for others, but personally I wouldn't mind paying for a decent one.

Dan is being a big help with providing available info, as before, so we'll see. But that's not the whole picture, there are some complex things that maybe require documentation or information beyond what is feasible to ask for. The Oasys keeps changing (no complaints there
) but it means you can't handle the data as opaquely as you could with the Triton or similar when things were more set in stone. I'll got into more details when I get a moment.
More news, as and when ...

This application is now deprecated until further notice. It is no longer available for download.
While I fully understand your decision I would like to try to use the librarian as is, in its last version, if possible - certainly for my own risk. I don't use MOD-7 (haven't bought it yet) so I think I could use the librarian for other sounds well. I'm in a big job organizing my sounds. Your software would help a lot.
I tried Stuart Pryer's Oasys Companion, unfortunately without success. Your librarian seems to be the only solution. Please answer how to get it - I'm preferably on Mac but also have Win7.
Thank you in advance,
Akos

Thanks Daz, I already got it from another helpful guy. The software worked (under Win7 emulation with Parallels Desktop on a MacBookPro
) and helped me much.
Too bad we don't have a similar simple librarian utility from Korg for free (renaming and reorganizing Programs and Combis in Banks). As Ken says, "I wouldn't mind paying for a decent one" - but officially it doesn't exist either.

I got it, thanks a million! The Mac version is better and nicer, as usual.Daz wrote:I didn't forget youI will PM you a link to the last Mac version. It's the better version of the two and the one I will support for friends because I use it myself.

You know it for sure: It would be good to be able to see (and change) the Programs inside a Combi. Make it then sell this great utility to Korg!

Thank you very much again for your kind help. This forum rocks!
