Korg Kontrol49
Hey everyone ive had this midi for awhile now and I am using it with Logic 9. I just wanted to ask if someone has the time to help me out on maybe a little tutorial on how to use this thing. Ive got it up and running and playing plugins through it but im wondering how I can set samples to the 16 pads create my own presets and midi map it to Logic's plug ins and all the other plugins i have. I honestly have no idea on how to use this this controller, your replies will be much appreciated.
please and thank you for everything.

You don't map the pads to 'be' a sampler. At all.
It is a controller, it transmits notes and control changes and possibly patch changes, etc...
If you want to play samples using the pads, you first have to find a plugin that plays back samples. Then in the plugin you can assign different samples to different keys.
Then you edit the template for the Kontrol so that its pad assignments match up with the keys that the plugin is using. Samples are triggered by sending Note On messages normally.

Re: pads
Logic's plugins are a little different, they're embedded into the program, they're not VST or AU or RTAS etc. so the only way to control them would be from the MIDI LEARN function in Logic, so you'd need to study up on the Logic Manual for that.

- Setting + pad 3, to map pads 1-8, pad 4 to map pads 9-16.
- Hit the pad you want to map, now you have chosen, press octave shift to right to choose with master enc which kind of control you want on the chosen pad: No assign, note# or CC#.
- Supposed you wanted note to play drumkit, then octave shift right again.
- Use master encoder or keyboard to choose which note you want to play the specific drum on the specific pad.
You can also use the normal encoders to change all 8 pads in one go:
- First select type of message. Hit next and then you can use normal encoders to choose notes.
- Hit enter to save it to ram
- You have to save scene to embed the settings to flash memory, so you won't lose settings after switching off.
Where you can find the note values which to use from logic, I cannot tell you, but that is the way to map midifunctions on the pads without librarian software.
Hope this was helpful.
Cheers
