midi Novation 49 controller with EMX-1

Hi , I'm new to the forum and just getting started with the emx. I'm trying to set up my controller with the midi out from my controller connected to the in of the emx. I've set the automap to the various corresponding channels, but have had no luck getting the controller to trigger the emx sounds.

Any help would be appreciated.
