Putting Programs on the R3
So to put programs on the R3, am I able to connect my R3 via midi cable to my fast track pro which hooks up to the usb port on my computer or do I have to buy the midi-usb cable for the synth? If I can use my fast track, do I plug the midi cable into the midi in, thru or out port?

You can use an external MIDI interface over 5-pin DIN but it will be very slow compared to using the USB-MIDI which isn't constrained by the bandwidth limitations of the old 5-pin DIN connection.
But nonetheless, you can use your MIDI interface if you really want to. it could take a number of minutes to transfer an entire set of patches.
A USB cable would normally come with the synth, did you not get one? they should also be easy to find because it is just a standard USB cable like those used in a printer. It isn't a special 'USB-MIDI' cable, it is just a USB cable which connects to the synth and then the synth appears to the computer as a MIDI device.
