Win 7 64 bit. M3 Editor - How to get the software working

Post by smythrocks »

I believe I have the Korg driver installed correctly. However nothing happens on the Korg physically when I change anything using the Editor. In fact I get an error message when I try to receive or transmit which would indicate that the drivers are installed incorrectly. The Korg shows up in my hardware list (on a Win 7 64 bit machine).

Despite many support requests, Korg have not produced a version of the M3 Editor that works reliably on Win 7-64, unfortunately.

Win 7 64 Bit Drivers

Post by smythrocks »

That's too bad as my Motif XS, Fantom G7, Tyros II, S90XS and Cakewalk products do. This is my first leap into Korg other than an M1 I had many years ago. Not having a working driver doesn't impress me. The M3 seems to be a decent board.

Yes the M3 is one of the best, but the M3 Editor is currently letting the product down without a 64-bit VSTi version.

Incidentally, Cubase have just announced Cubase and Cubase Studio 5.5 which has not only full 64-bit support, but they claim to have fixed the bridge technology that should allow 32-bit VSTi plug-ins such as the M3 Editor VSTi to work.

As soon as it's available I will upgrade and will try the M3 Editor on my 64-bit Windows 7 system again. The M3 VSTi did not work with Cubase Studio 5 64-bit version.

Best regards,
Rob

Let me know (if you remember) if and when you get a 64bit driver working. I'm on to other things. Actually, I've got to get the driver working correctly on my Moog Voyager. About the only thing I detest when purchasing computer with a new operating system is all the time spent hunting down drivers - midi seems to be the worst. Thanks again for your help.

Yep, I've tried the same type of installation and get the same result to confirm with you. When I bought the M3 I took the chance that Korg would have these types of things covered with them being such a large company.

The editor also may have problems with saving combi's and programmes to HDD when used with Logic if I have set things up correctly. It transmits and receives whats on the machine OK but won't save new programs or combi's to MAC HDD. I have it set up automatically to sync with whats on the HDD in terms of its initial loading OK. But new work has to be on USB at the present time.

I'm not enthusiastic to use or learn a new DAW package to get the M3's full capability I just want it to work.
