Just got the KP3

Post by wudsiba »

Hello all! As the post says I just got a new Kaoss Pad 3, and this thing is the bomb. I've only had a few hours on it, and I think I'm really getting a grip on the basics of how this sucker works. It's funny, somehow the videos that I've seen made me think that there was a lot more involved. I've never really been an on the fly type of musician, but I can see where anyone could come across as amazingly talanted with one of these things... I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's almost as easy as they make it look. I can't wait to see where I end up really using this in recordings.
Just wanted to say hello, and ask if there were any Hacks to learn. I downloaded Version 2, and the different loop options are just what I was looking for after just a few minutes of sampling. Again, it's really easy to figure out. (Thanks already to Pastor of Muppets from the MPC forums, yeah, I saw your avatar my man- Still love that name) Did a search, but couldn't find anything. Found one person looking for the same hack I was hoping for; A way to endlessly record, but it didn't seem like anyone knew a way. Anyways, I tend to ramble... Peace. Love this thing!

Hi

Since KP3 doesn't support overdub, endlessly recording is not possible for all I know. Limited sample workspace is main limiting factor for me. 4 banks with 16 beats is driving me towards some real sampler, planning on SP-404SX.

Yea, just tested if further, when using resample, it will also record anything coming into selected input. So bouncing is good way around the missing overdub, but still it takes 25% off the sampling capacity which is lot to me, i have hard to come along with 4 banks. Planning to get "real" sampler to add my chain of gear.

Repeating myself i see.

I don't think this thing is even trying to be a replacement for a workstation type of sampler. It's just an effects unit that allows you to sample. Having said that though, this thing can deffinately do things a workstation can't touch. I have a Fantom X6 and an MPC 1000 and both do incredable things, but the ease of this thing is unmatched in my opinion. The Fantom allows you to sync samples, but this allows you to do it in such a quick and effertless way. Even without touching the effects it offers something different to me. I already have a few sample combinations that I wouldn't come up with without the Kp. Though I can't really sequence them, I can now rebuild these in my Fantom and sequence my way in and out. Then it's already in the Kp to add effects. To me, not a stand alone unit but well worth having. Very bad I bought this. Only problem I see is that it may keep me from getting anything written couse it's just so easy to play with and get lost in...
