PadKontrol: Unable to turn Pad LED's off (illumination mode)

I received my Korg PadKontrol through the post today, and I've been reading through the manual. On page 13 of the manual "About the illumination mode", it says that there are four trigger pad LED settings to choose from - Patterns A-C, and Off.

I have successfully switched between patterns A-C, by holding the keys down that were mentioned in the manual, whilst turning on the PadKontrol. However, I'm unable to get the LED's to turn off, which is annoying since after using it for a while it gave me a migraine. When I held the Setting/Enter and Scene keys down whilst powering on, the LED lights still illuminated when I touched the pads, instead of turning the LED's Off. Holding down the Setting/Enter and Scene keys when powering on PadKontrol, will change the LED's to Pattern C, from either Patterns A or B.

I can confirm that the Scene button works properly since I have used it with other functions, so that's not causing the issue. Has anyone else on here encountered this problem, and more importantly, does anyone know how to fix it?
