I'm using Sony Acid Pro 7 on a Win XPpro system with USB 2.0. Recently I purchased a Korg nanoKONTROL.
In mapping nK controllers to Acid operations, they all work but there's a BIG lag time between rotating an nK knob and seeing the corresponding Acid 7 operation respond. It indicates a serious slow-down in Acid's implementation of Control Change (CC) messages.
This is particulaly maddening when attempting to adjust track volume faders, pan faders, etc.
This problem originates in Acid 7, not in the hardware controller. nanoKONTROL provides instantaneous control in other programs such as Native Instruments Kore2, for example.
More reason for my certainty that Acid 7 is the problem:
Prior to buying the nanoKONTROL, I used my Korg padKONTROL to control Acid track functions. The pK pads worked well as buttons (Arm Record, Pause, Metronome On, etc), but assigning knobs (CC# messages) to faders of any kind caused the following problem:
PAN as an example: Gradually turn pK hardware knob to the left. Nothing happens in Acid, and then suddenly the Acid fader jumps to 100% LEFT. Turning the hdwr knob right jumps the pan fader 100% RIGHT. The same occurs in all such operations - volume faders, effects and buss sends, etc.
QUESTION: Is there a SETTING CHANGE in Acid7 that will overcome this time lag in the processing of incoming CC# messages?
FYI: My templates are built on Acid7's "Generic Control" device model, and I have already tried turning off "Smooth and thin automation data". It does not help. My Korg drivers are the latest and my Acid version is 7e (build 713). My hardware controller goes straight into the computer's hardware port - no USB router of any kind. Acid7 vs nanoKONTROL = HUGE Time Lag

From reading the other thread it seems your system appears to be bogging down. If you are looking for just audio/video system I'd suggest you don't install all the additional stuff you appear to be having as well as turning off stuff that may be running sans your knowledge (like quicktime/google checking for updates, same for nero, et al). Go to the tweakxp or tweakvista sites as well as there is an audio one out there that shows what you can/maybe want to turn off. I stopped using Acid back in the 4.0 days and switched to Ableton Live ever since and don't have the nK that you have. I have a padKontrol as well as an Akai LPD8 and both work fine for what I am using them for. My system is an E6850 CPU (3.0Ghz C2D) w/4Gb memory running XP Pro SP3 and Vista X64 Ultimate.
Best of luck. You should be able to build a nice system for <$1k nowadays (less than what I spent a couple yrs or so ago).

Hey, Mike. Nice to hear from you.
Thanks for the reply. Since posting this thread/inquiry I've done a lot of research, with Sony and in general. I'm convinced you're right about the system bogging down.
It's a solid-but-old Pentium4 with just 1GB of PC2700 RAM, and I use it for all my computing. So I can't turn off all the other crap and it's too far behind the curve to upgrade its hardware. I will check out tweakXP per your suggestion. There's also BlackViper.com.
I've been plotting a new PC build - just for Audio (Acid, SoundForge and NI Komplete6) and Video (Vegas Pro 9).
I'd build on the i7-860 except it uses DDR2 RAM and I want to go with DDR3. The obvious choice then (for low-budget types like me) is the i7-930, but the parts for that system with 6GB of DDR3 1600 RAM will cost about $1,400 (with two internal drives and an eSATA backup drive arrangement).
No can do, as it's too expensive. I'm watching prices, and when I can do it for $1,200 I'll probably jump. A bleedin' Money Pit, sez I...
