Get the max out of M3

Post by Raj_Sangeet »

Hi all,
I am looking for the best way to setup M3-61 [stock, no upgrades yet] so I could access most programs and combis. My main goal is to use it as a sequencer. It seems like when the usb is connected I only have a few programs and combi available. Thanks!

Without the KM3 software and actually knowing how to use
it you cant really get the max out of this machine.

RAM is pretty important for having the EXB libraries loaded, but I think the EXB-RADIAS will give you more flexibility by far. I almost never use the added sounds from EXB-1 through EXB-4. But I always use the EXB-RADIAS.

I recommend both upgrades.

By "KM3 software", I'm sure Nedim just meant the M3 Editor software which comes on a CD with the M3 hardware (or you can download the most up to date version from Korg's site under Support). The software is for managing and editing the sounds on the M3 hardware and its other features -- including the sequencer.

KM3 software is referring to KARMA M3. The software from KARMA Lab which gives you access to all the parameters that make up a GE for creating your own GEs - e.g. KARMA patterns, etc.

On the M3 you are pretty much stuck with the preset patterns - although they can usually be warped in any direction beyond recognition, so you can still very much make your own music. But if you want anything specific, then the only place to do it would be in the KARMA software.

Thanks to all for responding,
I think I am missing something with regards to programs and combis. I only have 3 banks of combis and some combis don't even sound. So I need to reload [or reset] so I have all the banks of combis and programs. How to do that. I have already gone to global-->Basic-->reload pcg, or something like that to no avail. Please help!

Raj,

Please follow the step by step tutorial here, and also review the Karma Wiki site so you at least know where to find the other tutorials if you need them in future.
