Afraid to use Le live, eventhough bender-problem is 'solved'

Post by CJ4ever »

Hi all,

just a question.

The situation:
More than one year ago I had this problem with the pitch-bender, tones kept gliding when I played the keys and if I did use the bender in a solo for example yes it was a complete mess with tones !

The 'solving':
Together with a friend we opened my Triton Le and somehow connected and re-assured the contacts of the bender. (There was no guarantee anyway, bought it secondhand). Okay at least everything turned back to 'normal' again.

Afterwards:
I used the Triton le only at home as a stand-alone workstation or connected as midi-keyboard to DAW. Did not use it live because I did not want to take a risk that maybe at THAT moment the bender-problem would come again.
Btw: for my live set-up I still used my Roland Fantom combined with external midi-keyboard.

Nowadays:
It's been almost more than one-and-half year now that my Triton Le at home did NOT make the bender-problems anymore.
I am thinking about adding it to my live setup again.

What do you think:
Is it 'bender-safe' now again to use my Triton Le again for live setup ?
Or you think I should at least do some 'general check-up' at some synth-repair company/guy ?

Or can I trust it again after one-and-half year no more bender-problems ?

(Oh yeah, a while ago I was enthouasistic to use it live again but then afterwards was 'afraid' again)

Thnx already.

(Oh yes, Korg is also one of my favourite synth-brands so in this topic I am defintely not bashing Korg, I would not even dare :P )

It is difficult to say because I don't know the quality of 'repair' that you and your friend did.

I've had my TR joystick repaired, and it broke again. I took it back to be repaired again (for free because it should have been fixed the first time).

A few months later it broke again and I decided to fix it myself. Instead of soldering to the joystick board I removed the socket end on the wires and superglued the cables to the pins on the Joystick PCB header (note I didn't put superglue on the actual pins as superglue doesn't conduct! I glued around the wire, sticking it to the socket!). It never broke again.

So it really does depend.
