New Oasys 76

Post by mikkimc2010 »

Hi to all

Is it still possible to buy a brand new, boxed Oasys 76? I have searched the web over and again and cannot find one, although plenty of companies advertise them, when you go to the website, all you get is the dreaded out of stock message.

Is there anywhere out there that still sells them?

New Oasys 76

Post by mikkimc2010 »

Hi markuk

Thank you for the reply. emailed GAK yesterday, they advertise as available, but emailed me to say that they don't carry them in stock as the Oasys 76 is now discontinued.

Much appreciated

Korg Japan stopped production of new OASYS 76 & 88s one year ago (April 2009).

Most dealers have probably sold any OASYS in inventory, but you might find someone who has a new one.

Your best source is eBay, for old and new. I have seen dealers selling new OASYS units on eBay, but I haven't seen any new ones in a while.

Hi Mike,

One Month ago while I was buying my 88, I spoke to a sales rep at Steve's Music Store in Montreal and they had a line of (3) still available, brand new in the box. I think (and don't quote me) but it was around $5,100 Canadian Dollars + 5% GST.
I "almost" bought one of these, but I really had my heart set on an 88, and at the last minute I found a nice one in Toronto.
If I wasn't able to get a used 88, I was going to buy the new 76.

Anyway, I'm sorry I can't remember the guys name I spoke to, but if you call them, ask for their keyboard department, I'm sure they will answer your questions.

Steve's has a good reputation, so no need to worry about anything negative.
Their number in Montreal is: 514-878-2216

Regards
AJ

New, boxed Oasys 76

Post by mikkimc2010 »

Hi Markuk, MartinHines, Craztfoo and Daniellautarul.

Thank you all for the replies and suggestions for the new Oasys 76 search.

Almost got one on Monday an 88, but the guy pulled out at the last minute. Same on Wednesday, another 88, in a flight case, but the guy pulled his listing off ebay.uk...

Oh well, got the chance of another at the moment, a 76 this time, but the guy is hanging on, can't decide whether to let it go of it or not.

I will let you all know if this one ever gets to me.

Thanks again for all your help

Best regards

Sorry to put a dampener on things, but I just wanted to give a word of warning if you are buying a second hand OASYS, as there have been quite a few scams on the various auction and other sites over last few years, including on ebay . The OASYS, because of its high end nature and therefore higher price is often used as the enticement, as are other collectible items such as vintage synths.

That is not to say that there aren't genuine sellers out there, and with some care one can usually figure out the legitimate and trustworthy sellers from the scammers. For example before committing to a purchase ask the seller if you can pay cash on collection even if one makes up a story, such as a great aunt happens to live nearby that you havent seen in years and it would be the perfect excuse to see her again and collect the OASYS at the same time. In my experience anyone who has a problem with that is not worth dealing with. Also try to find out more info such as asking technical questions about the O as most scammers may not bother to learn all its specs. Also try to get a photo of the instrument with its Serial Number and/or Public ID as that could be useful in verifying the seller. These are just some ideas to think about.

Anyway I wish you success with your search and hope you find your OASYS as it is a fabulous instrument.

Cheers

Thank you for the very good advice, all taken in good faith.

I have done very detailed checks on the Oasys items that I have been offered so far, by tracking addresses for both home and work from these potential sellers. which is quite easy to do, given the scope of information available over the internet, electoral and business/company registers.

Your concern and help are much appreciated.

Best regards

Hi t_tangent

Much appreciated. :)

Still in discussion with 76 owner, who wants an M3 xpanded, but I feel that he really doesn't know what he wants, so I will just have to be patient.

He has had the Oasys 76 for 3 years from new, no updates have been added as he reckons he does not have time to do this???

But I will keep my fingers crossed on this one.

Best regards

Oasys in UK

Post by shergy »

Hi, if your still looking for an Oasys, Korg UK had 2 ex demo units in (I bought one about 4 weeks ago) got it through DV247 and I am told it has 12 months Korg warranty and 3 years DV warranty.
I am looking at an Open Labs (for Karma 3) if I can find somebody to give a UK price (that I can afford) I may sell the Big O, it will be on this forum if I do (The Open Labs will have to be better than fantastic though)
Also DV did have an 88 Oasys but it did have a fault.
