The microX seems just like what I need, one small synth that can be used as sound module (I don't care about the vocoder). The only problem is that I can't find it anywhere, seems like it was replaced by R3.
so,,, the question is, if I want a very small synth that can be used as sound module (midi in), what is the option instead of the microX ?
X50 is not an option since I'm looking for 37 keys or less

The R3 isn't really a replacement because it is a virtual analog (actually much more than just that) synthesizer, not a workstation/ROMpler spinoff like the MicroX and X50.
There are still a few places selling the microX, if you are lucky. They are also frequently present in the 2nd hand market - e.g. eBay, trade listings, etc...

isn't the X50 mostly just a MicroX with different keys and slightly different samples as well though?
also joseche, korg seems to have d/c the microX but not replaced it, which annoys me.... I buy most stuff second-hand though, so it doesn't matter much to me. but as x-trade said, I think the microstation may be korgs replacement option.

Great price considering I first bought it when it was released for a higher price. I think it was 699.00 or 599.00 I can't remember the original pricepoint. Anyway I returned it and bought a Juno G instead because at that time the Juno G better suited my needs even though it cost 999.00 back then. But I always wished I could've kept them both. The one thing I always thought the MicroX was missing was a sequencer. I know it was meant to be a controller for computer software, but can you imagine the convenience of a complete composing tool that size? The new Microstation tries to reinvent the MicroX in my eyes but the mini keys ruin it for me. Also the 61 keys detract from its portability. I wished they had done no more than 37 full size keys. Anyway, I am pleased as punch to get this synth back. Once I get my Mac Book Pro I'll have a really nice portable setup. There are better controllers by today's standards but they wouldn't have those great Korg samples or the x/y joystick. I'm good.

Why Korg did it ? They introduced something called microSTATION. To be perfectly honest with you I just did touch it little bit in the store, but I've checked it on internet whats the catch. There is one.
If you don't care about size (keys obviously) and don't need sequencer you will for sure be happy to have 5 DSP instead 3 DSP in microX. Go for it.
I love my microX but If I could go back in time I would tell myself to wait 2 months.

I tried both MicroX and the new Microstation. The MicroX has a more aggressive sound like the Tritons (it has 32 MB waverom from Triton LE and another 32 new ones). Microstation sounds smoother.
I think they will complement each other well.
