Korg Tr with Cubase SX and Reason

Post by JdB »

Hi!
I'm working with Cubase SX 3 and Reason in slave mode and now that I got the Korg Tr I wanted to replace my old Midi-Keyboard with it.
The problem is, that whenever I start Cubase first, to start Reason in slave mode, the Tr isn't accepted in Reason as a Midi-Device (Midi-problem: The midi port could be used by another program (which is actually true but hasn't been a problem before!)).
Has anyone had a similiar problem before and know what to do?
I just want to use my Korg Tr as a midi-device for both programs simoultaneously!
I'd be very pleased if you could help me ;)
(Btw: same problem when i connect the tr to my midi input of the audio interface, but i wanted to do it via usb anyway)

Your problem is the follow: the cubase open the midi devices exclusively, and then the other apllications can't reach them.
Now: KORG RADIAS-R, EDIROL PCR-800, ROLAND FA-06, Behringer DSP2024, KORG microstation, Waldorf Blofeld
Past: ROLAND MC-808, KORG Poly800, i5M, TR, R3, AKAI SG01v, ALESIS micron, ALESIS Fusion, Waldorf Blofeld, TERRATEC AREA 61, YAMAHA MOX6

Yeah I thought something like this too. But I don't understand why it worked with my Yamaha Midi Keyboard.
Is there something I can do to prevent cubase from using it exclusively?

Your Yamaha's MIDI drivers might've allowed it to be used by multiple programs at the same time, while the TR's might not.

How are you running Reason? Is it slaved to Cubase via rewire (and thus able to get MIDI from and send audio to Cubase, avoiding the need for drivers), or are you trying to run the two standalone at the same time? If the latter, why?
