randomly, my mk will lose about 75% of its volume...help?

Post by unicornclouds »

recently, my microkorg has been doing this thing where i'll be using it and randomly, suddenly, the volume will reduce to about 75% of its sound. the only way i can fix it is by turning the power off and then back on. anyone know why it does this and how i can fix it so that it stops happening? thanks.

Hmm sounds weird...
Have you tried using a different amp than you usually do? Or different headphones?
Does this happen with the headphones plug or the L/R plugs? Have you tested it with both, because if it only happens in one it is possibly a loose connection.

it's probably your left/mono jack then... is it loose or anything like that?

I have exactly the same problem. I´m using also only the L output, and it seems to happen sometimes, but always when changing the preset.

When it happens I check the amp and mix values, (and of course the output volume knobs) but everything seems to be ok. The only solution is to turn it off and on again.

It happend to me on live twice (and a lot of times during rehersals) and it is nightmare.

Any help woud be very very appreciated.

Thanks!

And I´ve checked the connectors, cables and amp. They are ok.

For testing purposes, use both the L/Mono and R outputs at the same time to different speakers/amps, as well as having headphones plugged in, so that you can describe what you experience when it happens the next time. Whether the sound level drops on the left, the right, both sides at once, and if it does the same thing on the headphones, will clarify where the problem is occuring in the audio chain.

It would also be the envelope generator. I don't know if your problem works with all patches, but you may find that the EG is set to lower the volume like that.
