Custom Afghani Songbook

Post by khaleds »

To all Afghani musicians in this forum,
I want develop a fully custom Afghani Songbook for Pa800/pa2xp and share with everyone. I’ve already started it and God willing will be completed soon. I really need a list of most common songs performed in Afghani functions and more ideas for making it work for all of us, if you are interested in this project just send some idea of what to add or remove. I will share the song book with everyone once it’s completed.
Example,
| Num. | Song Title | Genre | Artist |Tempo| Meter | Key | MTr.|
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| 1 | Kajack Abroo | Mugoli Mast | Habib Qaderi 145 | 4/4 | ? | 0 |
| 1 | ??? | Mugoli Slow | 120 | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | To ki Moori | Qatagani Mast | 120 | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ????????? | Qatagani Slow | 120 | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ?????????? | Geda Mast | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 |?????????? | Geda Slow | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ?????????? | kerva | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ?????????? | dadra mast | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ?????????? | dadra slow | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ?????????? | Waltz | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
| 1 | ?????????? | ATTAN DADRA | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
1 | ?????????? | ATTAN MOGULI | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
1 | ?????????? | Bangra Mast /slow | ? | --- | ----- | 0 |
I’ve just tried the beta version of the Afghani song book in function and its really awesome for real time performance, it reduces lots of stress in style selection and gives you desired tempo, fills, STS and many more options, just hit the selected song and everything is ready for you.
So please share your ideas of which most popular songs to add for above (Taal) Beats.

Salam Khaled Jan,
That's a nice idea and it will be helping a lot of music lovers.
Your work would be much appreciated.
As for song suggestions , I think you should have mast and slow , New and Old songs together.
For example for Mughuli mast :
Farhad Darya's BAALAA SAR DE DUKHTAR
Or KABUL DOR AST KE MAN SALAMET BUKUNUM

For Qataghani
To Ke mori, Hargiz Az yad man AAn saro Khiraman narawad

For Waltz:
Be Goftogo ba kulba am Ai aashna biya
Kas nashud paida ke dar bazmat mara yad aawarad

for Geda:
Haidar Salim's
Dar Qaid Ghamam Khatir Aazad kojaie
Biya ke borim ba Mazar

Kerva.
Sarbaban's
Khurshid man Kojaie
Ai Padsha-e khuban

These are some of my suggestions.
Wish you best of luck and please keep me posted.

Salam Tamim Jan,
Thanks allot for prompt reply and the suggestions for the song selections.
I really appreciate any ideas from all of our Afghani musicians in this form to make it work.
As soon as I got some more common song selections and suggestions, I put the song list in forum for you guys to review and this way I’ll know which songs add or remove to make it very common so that most of us will benefit for it.
Although a song title can be overwritten later on as per individual taste but I’m sure the popular songs selection will remain the same for everyone.
So I hope to get more reply from all of you soon.
Regard
Khaled

Salam Khalid jan e aziz,

What a wonderful idea! I always wanted to do this but lack of time and knowledge were the reasons why I could not do it. Now that you have started this project, then we should be able to support and help you. This is what I always wanted to do and to have on the Pa800/Pa2X:

Having the Songbook section organized in the order of singers name and their songs. For example, Ahmad Zahir has lots of songs and that we could make a section just for his songs. Same for Ahmad Wali and so on...As you know most of the songs usually have their own NAGHMAs and ANTARAs. Imagine that we could add them to, maybe to Var 3 or 4 or to the intro section. This way we do not have to memorize every Naghma that goes with what ever song that we choose to play. Hope I am making any sense... Anyways be in touch and take care. This is the beginning of a very nice project. Best of luck to you.

Best regards,

Fahim

Salam Again,
As Fahim Jan mentioned about adding Naghmas for songs, I really like the idea , I have an Indian set which has Music for the songs in one of the Endings.
Just a question Khalid Jan, wouldn't the song book require the same style set for all users in order to work properly?
Wish you all the best.

Salam Fahim Jan Aziz,
It’s nice to hear you bro.
I really appreciate your help and feed back for completing this project.
Would you please send me a list of which songs of which particular singers to be in the song book?
As far as adding naghma to a style to suit a particular song goes, it is a brilliant idea but would be a bit hard as we need to do some adjustments on the time signature of a style but nothing is impossible. I’ll try to do make naghmas for couple of songs. Also naghma can be recorded as pad and applied to song when needed.
Fahim jan I'll send you the beta version of my Afghani song book tomorrow , please try it give me some feedback on how to make it better.
Hi Moebrand,
Thanks for replying and being interested in this project.
The answer to your question is yes but still you can assign a song to a suitable style (taal) from your favorite set you got and in a matter of 1 hour you can get most the styles assigned to the song book.
So even if you don’t have the particular set, the song book will still be very useful so that’s not a worry.
Thanks again to you all and please be in touch.

regarding afghan song book

Post by iboby »

i think in most afghan parties, you probably need around for fast rythms like fast dadra, geda/kherwa, and mogholi. all the variations should be full. also, slow dadra, mogholi, geda and kherwa. additionally, kick attan and astabro would be amazing.
