Troubleshooting my electribe mx

Post by Goodson180 »

I just got a electribe mx yesterday and i dont know if something is wrong with it or if there is a setting i need to change or what. Okay so here is whats happening, Ill get my drum beat built and everything going then ill go to add a synth part. I tune the knobs how i want and get it sounding good. After that i hit the record button and play the melody on the keyboard and all seems good until i go to play it back. It only records 1 or 2 notes i hit and thats it. Ive tried all kinds of things and cant figure it out.

My electribe was used but its practically brand new so am i doing something worng or is there a malfunction with the mx itself?

Ohh also if i record keys really fast that works but if i hold a key and move to another it wont record that.

Please help if anyone has any information.. Its pisssing me off because its the only thing hindering me from making sick patterns.

It's okay- everything sounds normal. What you havn't realised (I think) is that the Electribes are monophonic- that is that they only can only record/play one note at a time. So if you try to play chords- you will only get one note, or if you hold one note then press another you won't hear/record the second. You have to play one note and then another.. but not two at the same time.

Ohh okay i understand what your saying now. i guess i didnt realize that. So what your saying is if i want to record going from on the keyboard 1, 7, 5, 1, instead of trying to play the melody in one motion i need to record seperatly.

thank you for the reply back i appreciate it

You are welcome. I'm glad it has worked out. You can play all your melody at one time. You just have to make sure you lift your finger off the current note before playing the next one. A bit of practice and it gets easier. Besides mistakes are all quickly editable when you become familiar with the machine. Enjoy.

sometimes what i do to get around this is . cut short the last note of your melody and then fit it to length with the step editor... or .. if you run over the first note of the bar just go into step mode and activate that step its supposed to start on, all the data, note length etc will still be there
