Radias-R set up
I just received my Radias R and am trying to integrate into my system. I use Ableton Live for production and have an M audio interface for external instruments if necessary. My sound card is an M audio 1010 and has Midi in out and RCA inputs. How do I verify correct routing? I also have the USB connected but can not see Radias in Ableton drop down menu for channel selection. What is the best way to get this integrated; how do I get sound going? I even went straight out from Master out to powered monitors. Is there a button to enable sound preview? Any help is appreciated as this is my first piece of hardware.
Congratulations on your new radias! it really is a fantastic and incredibly powerful synthesizer. You can 'preview' by turning the 16keys (along the bottom) to 'keyboard' mode if you want to check sound.
The USB only provides a MIDI connection so you'll need to hook up from your Main L and R outputs to your soundcard to record audio - considering you have RCA connections then obviously you'll need an adaptor.
To get USB MIDI working on a PC, you'll need to install the driver, AND THEN run the utility that the installer puts in:
Start > Programs > KORG > USB-MIDI Driver > Install KORG USB-MIDI device.
This utility allows you to associate the driver with the device on that USB port, otherwise windows will continue to try and use its own incorrect drivers. You may have to re-run the utility if you plug into a different USB port in the future.
Make sure you use the latest drivers downloaded from your national KORG distributor's website. The KORG driver installer is actually universal for all of their USB MIDI products.
The USB connection will also give you a faster connection than traditional MIDI ports - you won't need to hook them up at all. Your Radias can also act as a seperate MIDI interface - the driver will give you 'KBD/Knob' as an input, and 'Radias Sound' as an output, but also direct access to the MIDI In and MIDI Out ports separately!
If you just want to check that sound is working, you should plug from the main outs to your powered monitors or your mixer or amplifier, or you could try plugging headphones into the front panel headphone port.

Radias r set up
Thank you for the information. I guess I can use my M-Audio Fast track to route sound out of Radias into the computer, only it has one 1/4" input or XLR and the Radias 2 has single channel outputs. I tried using an adapter of 1/4" to RCA and plugged into the input of the sound card-had no signal; At that point I tried using the headphone jack and still had no sound so nothing was being triggered to begin with. The 'KBD/Knob' as an input, and 'Radias Sound' as an output was recognized within Ableton MIDI control, so the drivers work fine. I just need to learn the hardware and how to get sound going. I will mess with the keyboard mode to sample the sounds just to get a signal going. Thanks again! I purchased this to accelerate my productions-have been software and sample based for years with Reason and Ableton rewired. My music can be found at Beatport, i-tunes, Juno, etc.

Radias r set up
I got it going-it was just the "16 keys" selection to keyboard-I figured it was something simple. Thanks again; time to have fun.
Guys i just ordered an Radias R. Cant wait for it to arrive !
But right now i am using a AKAI MPK49 hooked to my Mac mini for some software synths.
Now, i know that you need to connect the Akai to the Radias MIDI to be able to play.
Just curious, when the radias is connected to my Mac through USB, if my USB Keyboard can be given as input?
Or do i have to explicitly connect it through MIDI in and out?
I am new to this. Thanks.

The USB connection on the Radias provides a virtual MIDI port in your computer.
So in your DAW software (Logic, Cubase, etc), you should be able to set up a MIDI track with your USB-MIDI keyboard as the input and the Radias Sound engine as the output, sequencing and playing as you like.
Garageband for example though doesn't support MIDI out natively. I think there is a workaround 'MIDI Out Plugin' on the net somewhere.
