Kaossilator Pro + MIDI functionality
Can I use the touchpad scales on the KaPro to control VST instruments via MIDI? Sounds like an awesome way to jam out some awesome solos/leads without actually knowing how to play a keyboard :p

someone please answer this question. i just got my KPro a few hours ago (having jammed on it at the store for awhile) but all i care about now is getting it to connect with a soft synth (in this case z3ta+ inside Sonar 8.53 x64) and making the synth make sound. i see that MIDI data is going into the z3ta+ track, but without any sound . . .
Sonar 8.53 x64, Komplete 6, Kore 2, MPD18, Kaossilator Pro, guitars, bass, drumkit, etc
Spend another couple of hours exploring the owners manual, particularly the section on Ext.Ctl mode. Also install and run the software editor and USB-midi driver.
Did you know that about 99% of all questions you have when you first buy gear can be answered much more quickly using the manuals and trying things they say? The forums here are much better to handle the 1% of questions you have that the manuals and a quick google search can't answer.

i have installed both of those, though i do get errors every time i open up the editor, saying that CoreVideo.dll is missing. and yes, i have explored the manual and there is very little info regarding playing/controlling soft synths

xmlguy,
I don't have a KaPro yet, I'm asking here because I am considering buying one and haven't been able to find this answer online anywhere (yes, it was Googled). I know the thing can trigger individual notes with the external mode but I haven't seen any indication that I can actually use the built in scales to trigger lots of notes in a particular key by running across the touchpad.
Also, I have read my KP3 manually extensively (all 6 pages!) and it directs me to my "local authorized KORG dealer" if I have any more questions on MIDI implementation. I think I am fully justified in asking this question because it really does fall into that "1%" for me.

The KP3 doesn't have scales anyway. You can find the KOPro manual on the KORG website. It is always a good idea to check out the manual before you buy something.
I don't have one but I'm pretty sure it has been mentioned before that the scales still apply in External Control mode.

External Control mode: Scales but no gate-arp!
Hi,
in external control mode you have the scales, but no gate-arpeggiator!
So each touch of the XY-pad creates one note. So the real fun is lost!
That's why I sold my KPro and bought an EMX-1.
This machine has scales, a Ribbon-Arpeggiator and everyrthing is sent out as midi-notes! So you can groove the hell out of your vst-instruments!
I don't understand why they didn't implement it this way in the Kpro!

so with the Kaossilator Pro, i only get one note per touch of the pad? so no scaling up and down the notes by running my finger across? i think that's what you're getting atroxxx303 wrote:Hi,

hey man i dont know the lingo too well... i've got my KPro running through my interface to ableton and i am having the same one-note-lack-of-y-axis-implementation issue and wondering just how you are running your kaossilator through a slicer in order to achieve arpeggiaton.... and whats a slicer?djfrogstar wrote:Im running my kaossilator through a slicer...
