R3 + mpc1000; help?

Hi!

I am trying to use mpc1000 as a midi sequencer for r3 but I'm unable to record the midi performance. I've been fighting with them two for days now and the manuals keeps on mocking me time after time. I'm pretty sure that its a noobish setup problem. However, I would appreciate some help with the setup or example of a similar setup. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone use R3 and mpc1000 together? How do you cope with 'em?

I have a R3 on the way to me (that´s why i´m here but actually dont know it yet) and a mpc 1000 waiting for its arrival. This is how i plan to set them up:

mpc midi out -> R3
R3 midi out -> mpc

Set local:off on the R3
Select the midi out on the active track (mpc)
