Radias now really discontinued
Hello
After no german store has the Radias in stock, i mailed to the german korg support.
They said that the Radias is really discontinued and that there is no sign of a new model.

I wonder if Korg has any still in stock though, and when they say they're discontinued they mean that they're simply not in production anymore.moroe wrote:Hello

The last time I visited the music store near my workplace 3 weeks ago they still had a Radias which is there since at least 6 months. I think it will stay there until they lower its price which actually is the suggested KORG price

Korg is very likely to make a successor, they simply said no more Radias models. I assume this means no more keyboard with the Radias MMT engine but there will likely be a new synth from Korg.moroe wrote:Hello korg
Please could you confirm that there will be no successor to the Radias ?
I really need to know this, because if there will be no successor, i have to buy a second hand Radias.

Or maybe the Radias was so successful we'll see a Radias Extreme!
Although just by not being a workstation I doubt it was that successful.
I would certainly like to see a synth like the radias with more flexible envelopes - like those on Korg's workstations, and the more flexible FX routing. And the workstation programmable arpeggiators or even Karma. And sampling. And 61 keys!
Anyway, I'm sure we'll see something, although it may not be for a while yet. My advice is to get the Radias now, it is going down in price and is a fantastic synthesizer. There is nothing to say that Korg's next synth will be as good - it may be worse! You should be happy with what you get, don't worry about getting the 'latest'. The Radias is on the market now, whereas its successor is not.
And there is still the EXB Radias for the M3, and the R3 is quite good too.

so that why the price dropped , good for me
I got one used and the price was dropped , because, i commented about the GC price. I have the ms2000 and wanted to get the Radias because of the 16 sequence like the old sq10, as far as I know no other sythns have this freature. they have stepping but on the fly tweaking
I just home the next version will be more awsome
If I would gues the next version look at the knobs or the r3 and control keyboards, also mave have sample capcity or maybe true analog
or maybe the hate the fact it is listed on vintagesythnexploer

Re: so that why the price dropped , good for me
I like that fact that its on there, it means it not just another VA synth. I think in the coming years people will start to pick up on how versatile the Radias really is.billfusion wrote:....or maybe the hate the fact it is listed on vintagesythnexploer

i didn't get rid of my Radias yet but i can't say i'm not thinking about it
the price i would get for it just doesn't justify the sell
BTW they still sell it in our local music shops, very weak demand for it though(always been actually) people are all over the Virus series still...
i love to have an improved Radias successor but according to the "affordabe" "portable" "entry level" latest crap releases i'm quite sceptical, the big manufacturers are now cutting instead of improving
Roland Juno gi anyone ?

could be a pattern
There seams to be a pattern on what has been selling lately and it is affecting what is being caried. 400 dollar gear is being taken up alot faster than the 800-1000. And it seams to be recreaters not orginators (look at the youtube vids on the microkorg) I have been seeing the flood of the used gear out there as well and the microkorg is all over.
Plug look at korgs lineup and see the microkorgs influence, the xl, microsampler, even the R3.
Strange thing when the micro is based on ms2000 engine a 2002 redisign on a 2000 model and the micro is still a hot seller a 8 year soon to be 9 still going the monotron is only new thing thats going to outsell it (soldout at GC)
Complex gear, which Radias is, seams to be less wanted as simple such a same.
korg is not only comany following threand, look st alesis and roland and as well as some lesser known
plus softsythjn converts

some shops here where i live still have radias (rack and keybed) for sell, btw my very humble opinioni is that radias simple cannot compete with the other VA on the market like Virus or Clavia... ok, maybe more features in Radias but the sounds is simply not so goods as the them...
how many artist/producers have you ever read about telling how they use Radias?Zero....
further analog synths seems to have a great re-vamp in these days (just think of DSI mopho, P08 and Tetra...) so korg may have decide that they sold enough radias to cover the initial capex and that more money using same technology can be done with EXB-Radias and R3

Actually I've seen quite a few groups using the Radias and seemingly proud of it.kimu wrote:some shops here where i live still have radias (rack and keybed) for sell, btw my very humble opinioni is that radias simple cannot compete with the other VA on the market like Virus or Clavia... ok, maybe more features in Radias but the sounds is simply not so goods as the them...

Admittedly I feel it is more of a 'secret weapon', its depth and feature set are incredible, but that is exactly what can put most people off.
The problem is that for generic synth work, most people I think are just buying software. If people shell out on hardware, they want it to have its own character and uniqueness, which the Radias lacks due to its breadth. People would rather a Moog LP, even though they are just incomparable features-wise, it has a more distinctive sound that perhaps makes it worth more as a piece of dedicated hardware.
Note that these views are actually almost completely opposite to my own - I like having the hardware for its reliability and convenience. I'm sure there are others too who just don't want to use a computer or a workstation. But I don't think we are in the majority.
