On the sounds, have you noticed how much they have sequenced? It's like getting Arranger users to listen to an Arranger the way a Workstation user would program it and play it.

I think they should have made that clear because most people listening may not know and they will think they are hearing styles.

Regards
Sharp.

Am I the only one who find Yamm-products sound "thin" and transistor-like?
I mean...Tyr1 - 2 - and 3 sounds as I would expect...same as monitors from Yamm...no "uhmpf" in the sound-picture.
And no, I'm NOT talkin 'bout upping the bass.

Tyros 4 Flash Mem instead of Dimm

Post by Sanjai »

Hello Guys,

Been a long time i just want to say that the dimm memory banks is replaces by flash. I think that means that you have not to load the samples on startup as in all the previous T versions.

Greets,
Sanjai

Nope. In fact, they and Roland sound terribly thin to me - which is why I buy Korg.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

I agree with the Roland part. The only reason I have 2 Fantom-X8's and a G8 is because of the Sequencing and Sampling features.

I DO use their sounds, but I have to actually create and modify them like crazy to get them to sound good. The Fantom-X is the THINNEST sounding board without the SRX cards. That's why I have 4 SRX cards in each of my X8's.

The Fantom-G8 is actually pretty awesome sounding, but the sequencer is half-a**ed and incomplete in comparison to the X8. So I just use it as a scratchpad and sound module.

Yamaha to me is more like Korg. An AMAZING sound and feature set that's impossible to beat by anyone else.

Sina

that's a question of taste or ear????
I had Fantom-xr and I had to sell it.
THe M3 I have is NOTHING...
THe leads are not as powerfull as the fantomxr was...
the sound is plastic and even thru spdif, m3 SOUNDS just as cheap as the Triton Classic.
Even with sampling I didn't get the fullness of the Fantom-XR leads.

this kind of news would excite me: "Korg Trinity VSTi plugin". but, other than that, especially tyros: zzzzz...

btw, speaking of thin-sounding workstations, I think korg Trinity and many Ensoniq keyboards, are the ones that sound the most un-thin. yamaha PSR and Tyros series kind of stuff are the ones that fall into plastic sounding category
