K25 USB issue

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem with their K25 or K-Series controller.

Basically, whenever I use my K25 via USB, my PC becomes horribly unstable, blue screening left and right. There has been a time or two where it refused to even boot as long as the K25 was plugged in!

Right now, I have it connected to my PC via the MIDI port, and it works quite well like this, but I can't assign functions to the knobs, buttons, slider and joystick. I had thought of sending it in for repair but I'm wondering if it's even worth it to fix as I bought it in 2006, so there's no warranty on it now.

Any thoughts?
