Failing SCREEN "LIFT" Function on PA2X PRO Keyboar

Post by melka_ashur »

Hello, I bought my KORG PA2X used on ebay about a year ago, and everything was working perfectly, but recently the LIFT mechanism started failing; the lift button brings the screen down, but it is not working to bring it back up, so I have to use the UNLOCK button and do it manually.

I am not sure if maybe I pushed a button to disable the lift up function so that only lift down works, or maybe it is a known mechanical problem, but would appreciate some guidance if anyone knows what I could do about this issue?

Thank you,

Odd think is... I know it can't be the motor or anything, because when I leave the screen UP, and power the keyboard down, and then I manually close the screen... when i power the keyboard up again, the screen GOES UP, restoring the same position it had when I powered down, so this shows that the lift up mechanism works, so perhaps its a button issue?

Yes, me too! Not clear algorithm works. Sometimes it works correctly and sometimes not. Button, which is near to the display only works "down" and never "up". And in the manual is written very briefly... "The last position is recalled when turning the instrument on again" and nothing. :(

Oh boy. do you know if the manual says HOW to make it normally go up? I always pressed the button until it switched to up, trial and error, but is there a secret to making it NORMALLY go up, instead of down, since its the same button? Is it a double click or what? I would assume theres nothing about maybe disabling it is there? I only ask because I had speakers sitting on my keyboard the day the function stopped working, and was wondering if maybe that caused a button to be pressed which might disable it. Otherwise this was a very random act. but like I said, it STILL GOES UP when I power up, so obviously the mechanism isn't broken, must be the button or something to do with the communication between the button and the act of going up.

Try reinstalling the OS... it could be a problem in the software. :D

STILL GOES UP when I power up
Make sure you press the screen lift button to completely lower the screen BEFORE you power off. The PA2XPro "remembers" where your screen position is if you just power off and then manually drop the screen flat.

The screen lift button is an UP/DOWN toggle - first press is UP, second press is DOWN etc...etc...

Changing the OS would not fix a mechanism failure.

Cheers

I realize this is an old conversation. Did any of you found a fix for the lift mechanism?
