Using wavetables in the korg M3. What your opinion.

Post by biggrime »

I am experimenting with wavetables in the Korg M3. I think I am getting good results. The only thing is the very very low end don't sound as good but other then that I think its cool. What your opinion on using them.

Could you describe more how you are generating the wavetables and how you are using them?

Last year I created a series of single cycle (mono/analog) waveforms sampled from the Sequential Circuits Prophet VS. The M3 already has several VS waveforms in its ROM that were carried over from the Wavestation so I was only adding what was missing. There were about 31 ROM waveforms that I did not use in VS and I did not bother to sample these. I found that by sampling C1, C2 and C4 I got a pretty good low representation. Also, I set the parameters in the VS such as cutoff to maximum, resonance to zero, chorus off, etc such that the signal was static over time. I've used these multisounds in quite a few programs on the M3 and it was worth the effort.

I am import waveforms into the sampler. I have a lot of them and will take time to import them all. yea I think its worth it too. I will be putting some up today in Korg format ready to go.
