Exporting EMX 1 Songs to your DAW to mix

I use Cubase to mix. I plan to dump my EMX tracks into my DAW. I have always been mainly ITB with no hgardware, so I have a few n00b questions :

1. Syncing the DAW and EMX1. I want the DAW to track in on tempo so all the tracks are lined up. I imagine this requires a MIDI cable to the input of my D/A convertor. Do I send over the MIDI data into Cubase after doing this or how do they link up to play and record in sync?

2. The Individual Out jacks. Are these the best output jacks to use for dumping audio? Do they bypass the tubes or any effects I may choose to put in my songs? Or is it better to use the output L/mono jacks instead?

3. What cables are you using? I would go into a preamp, so will instrument cables do the trick?

4.Mono or stereo? How do the drums and synths sound in mono, or do you reccomend stereo? I would prefer to do all my panning in the DAW.

5. Fastest way to record track by track into DAW. Is the fastest way to solo each track and dump in this way, or is there a way to use multiple outs and dump 2 tracks in at a time instead using the individual outputs?

I am thinking the answer to #2 is to use the individual outs 2 at a time. They would obviously be mono tracks. I just wanted to get clarification because I don't see much detail about this process in the manual.

Well, my 2cents...

I use Cubas LE. Audio device Midi Out -> Electribe Midi IN. Then you press the "Master" button in Cubase transport bar, and then, if you play record button, all will start to suond in sync.

That depends. I like tubes, so I use regular output. but is a question of personal taste.

I use balanced cables.

Mono. I record the sounds without FX.

I do it track by track.

Huge help..thanks so much for that.

So you are saying that the tubes do not affect outs 3 and 4? So I am assuming that you are using the L/Mono output to track in with? I would like to saturate each track too since I bought new eurotubes to upgrade the machine with.

Sounds like we work the same, so I appreciate the post. If you have any links to your music please post, I would love to check it out.

that's right, outputs 3 and 4 bypass the tubes and FX

I don't use Cubase, so I dunno about it
but I have a question

if you're tracking the audio of the EMX
why do you need to MIDI Sync it? won't you just record each part (track by track) and later line it up? I use Live, it captures the audio and I don't have to worry about timing much (- the beauty of Live's warping)

Gil, I prefer the tracks to be lined by MIDI sync. It is always the tightest way to lock your tracks and make sure you have kept the exact feel that you created in the machine.
