Impossible to Install Radias with USB
Hi Everybody.
First sorry for my english.
So I try to install my Radias, on OSX machine. Impossible (no detection)
I try again with Windows 7 x64. Impossible. (unknow device)
I try again with Windows vista x64. Impossible (unknow device)
I try again with Windows XP x32. Impossible (unknow device)
Maybe I must to do a Firmware Initialization ?
Also can I use Radias Sound Editor with a MIDI interface and Radias?
Best regards

Have you installed the Radias USB MIDI Driver? It is separate from both the Sound Editor and the firmware.
You need to install the USB MIDI driver on your computer before you can hook up the Radias to your computer for use within your software sequencer and/or use the Sound Editor.
http://www.korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=262
Click the above link, the click the "DOWNLOADS" tab, then download and install the USB Midi Driver.
Then install the Radias Sound Editor as normal.
If you need to upgrade the Radias' firmware itself, this is also separate from the USB MIDI Driver and Sound Editor, and again will therefore need to be installed after you have installed the USB MIDI driver on your computer.

If the radias firmware were to be corrupted, the chances are that the whole experience with the radias would be buggy or most likely not even booting. It is very unusual for a software problem (on hardware) to affect only a specific area.
The chances are that you are simply installing the drivers wrong.
If you are installing the drivers on windows, you WILL see a message saying "this driver is not digitally signed", you just click 'continue anyway'. All this means is that Korg has (done the right thing and) not paid MS $$$$ to test their drivers and give it a certificate.
Also make sure you are using the latest drivers downloaded from Korg's site and not the drivers on the CD. The drivers on the CD will almost certainly be out of date and the Radias has been around since before windows 7 or OSX 10.6.x
Remember on windows you have to assign the driver to the device. Running the installer puts the drivers on the system but you need to go to:
Start > Programs > Korg > USB-MIDI Driver > Install KORG USB-MIDI Device
Otherwise windows continues to try to use its own drivers which don't work. This step isn't necessary on the Mac.

Thanks for your answer.
I use the latest driver from the Radias Korg's website.
After the driver's installation, when I plug my Radias, Windows detect an "Unknow device" and when I want to change de driver manually, Windows say, the driver is incompatible with my device.
The same on all my system. 7, Vista and XP.

How do you "change the driver manually". Are you running the Korg utility or messing around in Device manager?afrocubanito wrote:Thanks for your answer.

Just ignore the initial installation wizard that comes up. You need to use the Korg utility ideally to install the driver.

Well
1: I downloaded the driver here http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=262 1.1.2 version
2: I started the "Drvtools_e.exe"
3: After the installation. I plug my Radias
4: Windows detect my device, but don't use the driver from korg, and say, my device don't work.
5: In my Windows device manager now, I see "unknow device" when my Radias is pluged
What I missing ?
Thanks

Well, you've missed out the important step I've already mentioned:
Run the Korg Install Utility in the Start Menu/Programs/Korg Group
Do this after you plug in your radias. You may have to repeat this step in the future if you plug the Radias into a different USB port on your computer.

Not sure how you connect your keyboard/keyboards to your computer!
I use the USB cable to control all the midi functions. I ran in to problems early on in the installation but over come it. Although windows say you installed the driver successfully its not aways the case until you want to use the editor or midi in/out. TRY THIS!
Unplug all your usb devices and try uninstalling the usb hub drivers in the windows/device manager. Turn off and then on computer wait for it to boot, windows will automatically reinstall your usb hub drivers no matter if your using XP/Windows 7. Wait a few minutes for your drivers to "install successfully and ready to use".
Plug your usb cable into your Radias/R3 and power up. Connect the other end into the usb socket you installed the korg usb/driver software.
Your computer should say" new hardware found followed by the name of the device that is connected.
Go into the editor and set the correct midi in/out !!!!

The correct ports to select are:djnoah wrote:I have set the right midi ports now and when i select i dont have the default Radias library files or when i open other Radias library files and select recieve or transmit i am hit with device enquiry error
Radias KBD/Knob and Radias Sound
These are the ports that come from and go into your computer.
As an added bonus, the other ports allow you to use your Radias as an additional MIDI interface - you can send data straight out to the MIDI Out and you can get whatever is arriving at the MIDI In.
