Indian Bollood music players
This a good news to all the people playing Bollywood music.
We have been always looking for sets, styles for indian music. Today after requesting SAM known as Assyrianpianist has agreed to make customize bollywood styles for us.He has been doing sequencing and programming professionally for long time. You can hear his demo styles on http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... ID=1119182.
What I am looking at is getting all of us together and select some 20-30 songs . Then once we finalize with him the songs and the price for the styles. we can all contribute towards the project and can use paypal to pay directly to him.
What say guys. Will you be interested....

Hi Niranjan,
Sounds interesting I hope the price is reasonable and not commercial.
Also I have the indian drumkit what Shaheed sampled and Nedim made. I think you need the tabla and dholak sounds.
Let's make the ritme's neutral so you can play a lot of songs with one ritme.
Let's pick the most used ritmes used in Bollywood songs.
Bolly Waltz
Bhangra
Bhadjan
Ghazal
Dadra
Kerwa
Bolly Twist
Bhojpuri
Bolly Dance
Teentaal
Rupak
Ektal
jhaptal
jhoomra
tilwada
dhamar
Ektal
Kawaly
check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tala_(music)
Hope this is enough info yet.

Niranjan,
You did what I was contemplating to do (i.e. asking Sam if he would create stuff for us on request). Listening to what Sam created, and so fast, I was very impressed. If Sam has agreed, it is certainly a goo news.
I am with you 100%. Now if all the Bollywood types who are looking for new styles show support, we could get some decent new styles. The more players the better for all of us, including Sam
I would like us to think smartly on what styles should be created. Send me a PM or e-mail at hinyus2@swbell.net and we can chat.

Hi Sanjai,kauser,
hope we get more guys joining us...
sanjai you are right about the TAL,and making neutral rythms but i have a question for you.... do you really want the neutral styles or would you be interested in playing customised peppy bollywood songs. It depends on what we guys play for. i mean with a singer , band or just for fun.
Let me give you an example......Ajeeb dastan can be played with any 6\8 style but then listen to Ajeeb dastan On my soundclick page in the signature. that was sequenced on Triton, Now imagine if you get a style in that manner with all the backing music tracks customized to that song but at the same time being in style format you can dominate the style rather then the midi file dominating the singer...... it sounds real..Especially the newer songs need customazisation.
Sam has an excellent talent and is really fast with his work.i was so impressed. Now songs like Suraj Hua Madham or dhoom sounds so real.will the neutral styles give that effect and do justice to those songs.
let me know your opinion,
Could get some neutral styles and some custom styles...may be.

ok, i'll just give you my opinion about this, and hopefully it'll give you guys a better idea, or at least a different perspective.
Song specific Styles vs. General Styles. vs Midi sequences
Which is better, or when to use one over the other?
I almost never ever never use a style to play a slow Ballad, especially if it's a popular song with a nice original arrangement. In my opinion, if you use a style , you miss 80 % of the most important parts of the song. In fact you can even make the song sound richer and fuller than the original version, if you sequence it. Also, if there's too many time signature changes within the same sections of the song, then, you can't really use the style to play the song anyways.. technical problems might get in the way. So using sequence can solve those kind of problems usually. Not every slow ballad is good enough to be sequenced of course.
Song Styles are much more powerful and represent the song very well. Same thing as slow ballads, some dance songs have really nice arrangements, melodies, harmonies..etc For those I would choose a song style...It makes all the difference. A good example would be both dance songs that I did. You can't use a general style to play both songs. It's just not possible. Although both are in 2/4 , but they carry a totally different groove.
General styles: Come handy for songs that don't have a really nice original arrangement, or do not have a specific signature groove...then you could probably use a general style...

Oke Sam,
I agree with you about the specific song styles are the best.
What I would like from you is a howto.
For instance let's take suraj huwa.
How do begin and what steps do you go thru to create that.
I am asking this because i think you help us better by doing that then giving us a couple of styles. Thatis also welcome but that doesn't solve ower problems.
Greets,
SR

Although, i'm kind of unsure about what exactly your question is, but I'll add this to my previous comment, and hopefully it'll clear out some confusion...
The way this is going to work is that , i'll get the song and will listen to it carefully. Then, i'll break it down into sections (Intro 1-3, Vars..etc) and will e-mail you guys the break down... and see if you guys agree with all the parts...then, i'll start programming. Remember, everything in this project is up to us. The whole thing can be easily custom made, as long as you guys agree to one structure... Did that kind of answer your question?
"Thatis also welcome but that doesn't solve ower problems."
I'm totally clueless about this. Not sure what problem you're referring to?
Re: Indian Bollood music players
Count me in as well, MR. Niranjan!

Hello Sam,
Sorry but had a exam this week so couldn't replay.
I red your answer and I agree with you.
the problem what I meant was that the song styles isn't that flex.
If you cut the songs and let's us walk with you thru the procedure then we know how you do this and maybe we can help now and later on.
So did anyone suggested a list with songs ?
Let's start guys here is my frst song:
Pardesi Girl
I have chosen this because of the bangra changes in the variations.

Sanjai

Hi Sanjai,
Not yet. I think this is going to confuse everybody. I guess the best way is first to find people who are willing to be part of this project. Then, you guys between yourself come up with a list..and then we'll cut a final list out of that. I would need more than just a name. A quality youtube link should be fine, but if you guys had a quality mp3 of the song, that would help as well.
Did you mean this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFrWMR5r ... 1&index=14
This could be programmed with %100 success.
I know its' tough, but it's good news that you have access to a lot of songs. If you come up with a long list, then i'm sure we can manage to find some that are perfectly suitable for this purpose.Kauser wrote:Sam,
The toughest job is to come up with a list of songs. There are so many. But we are on it and hopefully we would provide a list for your review soon.
