Chord pads can switch effects

Post by Yatrix »

Want to share with community one not very obvious feature of M50
- there is chance to switch effects using chord pads same like SW1,2 in momentary mode.
Very usefull for solo phrases at gigs with certain programs.
Of cause, dedicated pedal board with ten foot switches like Beringher is better, but it is huge and heavy as well...

1. on Global P2 Controllers, second page CC Assign
set Chord triger Switches
SW1 = CC#85 SW2 = CC#86 SW3 = CC#87 SW4 = CC#88
2. on Global P1 Midi , second page MIDI Routing
select option= Chord Triger SW CC/Note
Then select Program to be played and
3. on Prog P1 Basic/Ctrls, 4th page Chord Triger make all previously selected notes in chords to be Off
4. Next select any Effect you like and set last options as follows:
Wet/Dry = Dry
Source = СС#85 (or 86,87,88)
Amt=+100

Now , when you press chord button you hear effect applied to
program sound.
When you take finger of from button then effect is off as well.
If you assign all 4 buttons to different effects then you are able to start any of these effects in any combination by pressing buttons with finger of your left hand while playing with right hand.

I applied these setiings to CX-3 organ as 1.Overdrive, 2.Flanger 3. Vaw 4.Rotor and it works fine.

To copy settings , if need, from one program to another :
1. Copy Chord Trigers settings (with all notes are off)
2. Copy Effects

Hope you like the finding.

Not with my M50 at the moment, can you do this in combi mode as well?

Yes, you can use this feature at any combi after "Copy from Program".
But if there were other programs within the combi where you use pads for chords then you lose chords setings.

few more ideas:

Trick #2: Switching between two effects with one chord button For example you use OrganVib/Chorus as the ordinary effect to your organ and Rotary for solo. If to apply Rotary over OrganVib the sound will be ...bad. So you need to switch Off OrganVib and switch On Rotary.
The settings will be:
Chord button 1 = assigned to CC#85
IFX1 =OrganVib/Chorus
Wet/Dry=Wet Src=CC#85 Amt=-100
IFX2= Rotary
Wet/Dry=Dry Src=CC#85 Amt=+100

Trick #3: Toggle effect with chord button, if effect allows toggle behavior of SW
Chord button 1 = assigned to CC#85
IFX1 = OD/HiGainWah (preset User00 -as by default)
Wah=Off Src=CC#85 Amt=+100 SW=Toggle
Output=10 (as in preset) Src=ExpVelocity (to add better articulation) Amt=50
Wet/Dry= 50:50 Src=KnobM1[+] Amt=100

So, the drive will be controled by Knob and Wah could switchedOn/Off with Chord triger button.
