It's very likely that KORG will come up with a successor of the M3 considering the fact that the M3 dates back to 2007.

I hope KORG will also pick up development for their legacy line of plug ins.

...and maybe at some point in the not-too-distant-future KORG will come up with a worthy successor to the OASYS?

By the way, considering the popularity of iPhone or iPad applications it's not at all surprising to see KORG focusing on that market (for instance, Wallander Instruments WIVI Band for iPhone had over 100,000 downloads in the iTunes App Store, which means over one $1,000,000 revenue just for this one application!).

The Beatles worked for Apple.

Does that make them tainted?

We need to get to the core of this problem. (or is that "Korg" of the problem?)

Apple Records is a record label founded by The Beatles in 1968, as a division of Apple Corps Ltd.

Apple was established on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne,[1] to sell the Apple I personal computer kit.

The brand name brought them to court dispute which ended that each would keep their own brand name. The Beatles Apple would deal purely with the music side and Apple computers purely with computers.

Working for Apple could be the best thing Korg can learn... stability.
If they have some exchange plans and make the Korg OS as stable as the OS X is... the future sounds "chime" ;) (for the Windows-ers... it's the sound made by a Macintosh at starting  )

Holy crap no. Their main business is supposed to be COMPUTERS and they have like 4% marketshare. They also sold servers which got phased out and discontinued because nobody wanted those either. What does Apple sell now, ipods and ipods that make phone calls.

If Apple taught Korg a thing or two about sales and marketing. All Korg would pump out would be nanoDevices and overpriced accessories.

I'm happy with how Korg has progressed and survived.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

Unless you immediately need a new workstation I would wait until NAMM.
It's been almost 4 years since the M3 was released, so...

i still feel like it's too soon for a new workstation. Roland and Yamaha haven't come out with anything groundbreaking, aside from the XF (which wasn't really groundbreaking). I'm hoping Korg will put out some kind of accessory for the M3 in response to the XF. Like, a new sample library or some new gadget. But I wouldn't be surprised if they released a suped up edition of the M3. But I'm guessing they're probably going to release some off-the-wall new instrument that defies the laws of traditional music in some way... i.e. wavedrum, tenori-on, etc

I think OASYS 2 is out of the question. I'd imagine the vast majority of Korg users would be trepidatious about investing in one at this point considering what happened when Korg pulled the plug on the last one.

Unfortunately I think the Oasys will be the last of its kind.

Looking at Korg's recent releases in the last year or so it seems they are miniturising things and aiming them at the cheaper, impulse-purchase market for selling products in greater quantities.

After "expanding" the M3, what can it be?
Exploded M3 ?

My suggestions are "M3 Really Xpanded" and "M3 Obese" ... although i'd totally buy an exploding M3.
