Trinity or Trinity v3, which one did I get?

Post by Lord_Bryan »

I recently purchased a korg trinity 61 key with Trinity v3 sticker on keyboard, I updated to Version 3.1.1 which cleared the ROM I reinstalled the Banks A and B programs and Combis. Should there be a bank M? or did I just buy a regular Trinity with a Trinity v3 sticker on it? How can I check? Every time I try to load the MOSS Bank, I get an unreadable error on my display. Any info would help and be greatly appreciated. :?

Do you see the v3 logo on the screen when you turn on the keyboard? If not, then perhaps the MOSS board was removed.

No V3 logo just trinity DRS on bootup, that's what aroused my suspicions aside from the lack of M bank. Should I install the appropriate software, ie the regular trinity software? By the way thank you for your response.

I'll state the obvious and say that someone likely removed the MOSS-TRI board from it and sold it separately; hopefully you didn't pay big $$$ for that option.

The Trinity is still an awesome board without the MOSS-TRI installed and you can add a Solo-TRI for not that much $$$ if you want.

I paid just over $500 and the keyboard is fine, I guess it was too good to be true I was looking for the quality VA sounds to round out my studio. The guy advertised it as a V3 and the appropriate sticker  I installed the upgraded V3 software, should I go back to the regular Triton software if I go after a solo tri board, and can I still install a PBS-Tri board.

Best way to check if there's anything there is to open it up.

The Moss board will be where the dotted yellow box is. Mine looks slightly different as I have a SCSI board mounted on top of the MOSS board so all you can see is my SCSI board there.

However here are the boards disassembled. Moss board on the left, SCSI board on the right.

Can you rephrase that please, I couldn't understand it.

The Triton has nothing to do with the Trinity. Do not try to use Triton operating system software and/or Triton hardware boards with the Trinity, they wont work.

If you find you don't have the Moss-TRI board installed, it would be sensible to use Trinity OS v2.4.1 instead of OS v3.1.1

If you go after a Solo- or Moss-TRI board, yes you can install the PBS-TRI at the same time.

Bear in mind Solo and Moss are different. Only one or the other can be installed at any one time, they cannot be used together. For a rundown of the differences between Solo and Moss see here:

Wooww! Timo Thank you

I opened up the trinity last night and lo and behold there is no Moss board just a chalk outline ( :( ) .
Freudian slip on the Triton, meant Trinity!!

Kindest regards, and thanks for the hard work.. I sincerely appreciate this. I contacted the person who sold me the keyboard to find out the whereabouts of the board, as I was looking to round out my studio ( Korg M3 88/exb radias/ Fantom X8 /Motif xs6 and Ketron sd3 ) with some great vintage VA sounds as some of my projects are remixes of older material. Still like the Korg Trinity but would love to add to it's power.

Again, thanks so much!!! TTFN!!
