I shattered the touch screen on my trinity pro drs. Totally bumming out !!! Gotta fix this ASAP ... Its not mine!!!! 2nd layer Glass fragments are visible and the top flexi clear layer has a small hole due to the falling object. How do I access this section to replace it. I dont want to start this repair with out knowing a bit more. Note the screen still lights fine but it will not respond to touch edits. Also any help to find the replacement parts.

Get ready for a big job. I believe to access the touch screen you have to tear the Trinity down in layers from the bottom and work your way to the top; there are a zillion screws to remove in the process. If you have a digital camera take lots of pictures as you go so you'll know how things go back together. Take your time and pay attention as you go.
I've seen replacement screens available on epay from time to time.

broken screem
you probably only need the screen not the circuit behind it. i just bought one for $85. as you take the trinity apart, theres only 3 types of screws.
1: the black ones in the back that you take out from the outside. ( not many of those)
2: the big giant ones that connect the bottom cover and a few more like them around the floppy drive area. (not many of those really)
3: a whole boatlead of small brass screws. they are all the same with exception of a few that are threaded differently (machine bolts), i believe around the screen area.
there is a main brace that holds the keyboard. you may want to mark with a marker, where it sits, so you can line it up when you put it back in. Try not to bend anything on the boards. while you are there, you may want to solder any loose outputs especially the main left and right outs. if they jiggle they need a touch up. a drop of solder and a light touch while pressing firmly on the socket so it seats well should do it.
Don't worry too much where all the groups of wires plug back in because most will only fit where they go. There may be a red set coming from the keyboard keyboard that may fit somewhere else so just take a pic or make a note. You can also tell my the lengths of the wires.
When you put it back together start with the sides and press them in as tight as you can. in my experience this is key to getting it all together nice and tight.
Also while you're there, you may want to see if the joystick is loose. theres a hex nut under the piece the joystick slides onto. its easy to tighten although time consuming to get to. maybe if you throw in some of these added fixes you'rte friend may not be too upset.
DISCLAIMER: IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE, OR HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE IN THIS SORT OF THING I RECOMMEND BUYING HIM A NEW TRINITY FROM EBAY AND FIXING THIS FOR YOURSELF OR NOT ATTEMPTING THE REPAIR AT ALL.
