You can't be a truly devoted Nightwish fan. You got a TR, not a Triton Pro X.
The Triton Pro X can do some things that can't be done on the TR, as it has an EXB-MOSS expansion available, sampling built-in, and 5 insert effects with 2 master fx. The TR is derived from the LE, which is a cut down version of the original Triton, while the Pro X is a full Triton with 88 keys.

xmlguy actually that Triton is barely used in Nightwish songs.
It depends which album you consider.
First 4 albums are recorded with n364.
Century Child - n364 + Triton classic
Once - ONLY KARMA
Dark Passion Play - TR,Triron pro,Oasys
Tuomas used 3 TRs on DPP tour and that proves that TR can do all what you need.
Check out my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhvs8aY9 ... re=feedlik
Now about N364 Strings: It is not possible to pull out that program from n364 to TR, but somehow one guy from Croatia gave me sample of BigStrings from AI2 engine , and they CAN be loaded on TR!!! (you can hear them in my video 2:56)
So contact me through mail and I will be glad to share them with you.
And about those space4keys - I really don't see why you people praise them so much.Their patches suck IMO. I can give you 100 times better , FOR FREE!

Hi
Seriously, it's not necessary to play a song with the same instrument of the original band... Toumas use a N364 in the firsts albums becoz he had that keyboard, but now he uses an OASYS on studio, and you cann't have the OASYS samples (uncompressed) on a TR for the new songs
Use the instruments on the TR, tweak them, on some songs you'll need to use the sequencer to do more complex setups.
I used to play Nightwish covers on a band with a CASIO CTK811 a lot of years ago, and sounded better than a lot of bands with Rolands and KORGs (that keyboard have some BASIC synth functions to tweak instruments and rubber pads to rapidly access to setups with a max of 4 instruments and seamlessly transition)
Then I buy the TR, and, believe me, you can do magic with that synth, there are better synths, but in a live situation, you can do wonders with it, if you are stuck on presets progs and combis, you are losing a lot of money.
You dont need the samples of the N364, you can do better with the ones on the TR.
Also, Toumas use a KARMA and 2 or 3 TR on stage, he normally dont play more than 2 or 3 programs/combis, so he don't change progs/combis on a single song to avoid the sound cutting, but you can use some tricks to play all on a single sequencer setup or maybe two
Regards.
Alvaro.

Nice things to do before asking:
Read the manual, search on the Forum and internet and try by yourself.
You will learn a lot more and faster.

Perhaps my sarcasm didn't come through? Buying an instrument because a band uses it is hilarious to me. Even more fun is when bands use the MicroKorg for videos as props, leaving flocks(herds?) of fanboi cover bands with confusion, wondering how to get that XYZ sound out of the MK, when behind the scenes the band is using something entirely different. That just never stops being funny.Ozz wrote:Seriously, it's not necessary to play a song with the same instrument of the original band...
Offtopic stuff already, topic started wanted the strings only.
renoruberts here you go: http://www.filefront.com/17856887/V_STRS.rar
Instructions:
1: Unpack it,and send all content on your memory card
2: Load samples on your TR 01_WF000.KMP and 01_WF001.KMF
3: Select some default String program (Session Stringst)
3.Program has 2 Oscilators , 1st - sample 001 -2nd sample 002 and in lower oscilators put TR's String -L samples.
Enjoy.

I could tell you how to translate an N364 patch into a Triton TR, but that would be off topic. There's a difference between those of us who know how to program their synths, compared to those who don't: you need us more than we need you. Copiers only need to learn how to copy. That's easy and requires no knowledge of synth programming.
But if you want to learn how to program both the N364 and Triton TR, so that you can translate the patch all by yourself, feel free to create a new thread and ask that question.
