Latency with padKontrol

Post by dbrook007 »

Hi,

I have recently got a Korg padKontrol and, aside from being disappointed that I did not get the bundled software I read about all over the web, I have been experiencing a very noticable lateny problem using the padKontrol with my PC. It is simply unusable like this.

My current setup is the padKontrol is connected directly to the PC via USB 2.0. I have installed the software and drivers supplied on the Korg disc (just wondering on that - are there any updates available?)

The PC is currently using on-board sound (Intel DG965RY mobo). The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz (E6700) and the PC has 2Gb RAM, 1 x 750Gb Hard drive and 1 x 80 Gb Hard drive.

The latency is very obvious and just makes using it very hard and it is not a good experience. I intend to use the padKontrol for recording drums and/or constructing MIDI drums etc but it's gonna be too much hassle if it's like this.

My question is, what is causing the latency? Is this problem more of a problem on USB?

And, would the latency problem go away if I got a soundcard (like an E-MU 1212m) and connected the padKontrol via MIDI rather than USB?

At the end of the day, if this latency problem won't go away that easily, then maybe the padKontrol is not for me.

I would be grateful for any advice or help on this :-)

Thanks in advance,
Darren

Hi

Install Asio 4 All and this should help with the latency in your computer.

the problem is not with the PadKontrol.
