the chorus part is too mid; would like a 'sub-bass' function, similar to Live. could probably figure something out with the band eq, but there's only about a bar left of sample space in that bank; wish there was an sd card expansion...

I think you need to go abit more aggressive with your samples. You got a nice voice for this type of music, laid back, but subtle aggressive, the track is nice , a bit too monotonous, but it fits the main theme.

I would expect a nasty sub bass, and one strong distorted lead sound.

laid back = lazy = not much effort into beats.

wish i had a rad producer that 'inspired' me and gave me tons of beats that i could pick from...

Hit up all the sites where they are and reach out.

that's a good idea.
i work at a computer lab, so i just sit around on the internet while i work.
i could scour the net for guys that make staggering synth beats that are full of cord changes and sampled love songs.
any suggestions on forums?
i will start with google, but maybe you have some 'insider's tip'

It could get a little complicated. You gotta start with the kind of beats you want to rock over. Most of the beat hosting sites have a search criteria that will help narrow down your search. You can even focus on who else raps- that has music that fits your style.

What kind of music inspires you now?

You can go to PMP.com and look through their profiles.
Nose around on FutureProducers.com and look at the producer profiles/signatures and check their music hosting pages.

I wouldn't make a new post/thread and announce that you're looking for beats unless you have a clear idea about what you're trying to do.

iStandard.com has a bunch of producer profiles too.
Most of the stuff I mentioned will (or should) have a bit more $erious/business minded beatmakers.

For Google, you want to Reverse Search your goals. Put in "Rap Beats Hosting Sites Free" and you'll find where the beatmakers are uploading their tracks and begin your hunt there.

There's all kind of sites and a lot of beats that are really cheap. Your level will probably be forced to match whoever you work with. There aren't many guys that are talented who are just willing to horse around with their music.

I mean you can't throw a stone and not hit someone pushing beats...

I did some thinking and the fact you have a microSAMPLER makes me think you could make your own beats. I would feed the MS-1 some drum loops and such and then you fill in the blanks with whatever you add on.

You can do the same searches on the net and use free loops and even use the libraries of Big Fish Audio (there's your insider info) to build the foundation of your tracks.

They have cheap direct downloads and you can preview kits and loops so you know what you're buying. The box-art matches the content so you can basically pick your sound by looking at all the pretty pictures.

They come in full beats with bass line, synth, sound effects and drums all separated. Load those audio files into the MS-1 and build some tracks.

It can't get any easier than that.

Just remember they offer a wide palette of products so don't order the Crunk-in-yo-Face package and expect old-school Boom Bap sounds or beats.
