Nanopad and Cubase - need beginner's steps please...

Post by dberry001 »

Very sorry if this has been requested before - as I'm sure it has.

I have Cubase LE4 and EZ Drummer. I bought the Nanopad solely for the purpose of controlling EZ Drummer in my recordings. However, I cannot get the Nanopad to control the drum kit.

I'm hoping someone can provide a step by step guide on how to set this up in Cubase.

Here's what I've tried so far:

First I created an Instrument track and assigned EZ Drummer as the instrument. Cubase then automatically assigns EZ Drummer as the output. It will allow me to select Nanopad as the input. But - I still get no ability to control it with the pads. No sound. And yes, I do have the track activated and the monitor button turned on.

I've installed the latest Korg midi drivers and some other software it recommended (Korg Kontrol or something like that). But no luck.

I've also tried creating a MIDI track vs an instrument track. But, in MIDI track mode I cannot find where Cubase will allow me to assign EZ Drummer as my instrument. Therefore, I get no where.

If anyone knows these steps - please, please let me know or if you have a link of somewhere on the net that discloses this - I would be very grateful.

Thanks!
D

Anyone on this forum???

Just wondering if anyone is on this forum that can answer my question above?

I see a ton of Nanopad users in here and just need a little help. Or, is there a better place to post?

Thanks!

I've given up as I can't seem to find anyone that has the LE4 version working with the pad. I've gotten a little help from other Cubase guys that are using Cubase 4, 5 or 6. But the LE4 version doesn't have some of the needed capabilities to make it easy.

So - the NanoPad is back in the closet where it will stay until I have a better version of Cubase or some other DAW.
