Factory Sounds

Post by michaelg »

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been asked many times before and the answer is obvious!

I'm thinking of buying a Triton Classic, but before I do, I'm wondering where you can get the factory patches from. The way I understand it, there is no function on-board the Triton Classic to re-initialise the factory patches (although I think there is on the Triton Le). So the patches have to be uploaded into the keyboard by floppy disk (or maybe sysex?) But where can you go to get these patches from? I can't actually see them in the downloads section of this website.

Thanks,
Mike

Go to korgform homepage.

"Triton Classic" section of Download page here has the factory patches.

Also factory patches for all EXB boards.

Plus a gazillion user contributions.

Dive in. Keep paddling. Have fun. Remember to breathe.

you have to put them on yourself yes! you do not need to do it through SYSEX
they are indeed on the website

http://korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=462
if that link does not work go to Korg.com>support>keyboards modules>triton>downloads
and you should first of all, make sure its updated to the latest system version. when you recieve your triton, when you start it up see what system version it has, if it does NOT say 2.53 then you need to upgrade to it, wich you can get from korg.com
also the factory sounds are there, just click the link where it says "Triton Original Factory Settings" and youre good to go!
load the PCG and begin your journey! but dont forget making yor own programs and combis is all the fun!

if you need more help feel free to post

Yes, if you have a midi set up for your computer it should be just a matter of send and receive file.

I've used and can recommend the TritonLib as a librarian for organizing and moving files around inside a PCG file on the computer. It is not an editor per se though, so you'll probably find it handy to get one if you want to try editing particular voices or even programs within combis.

Also, USB floppy drives are fairly cheap. You may want to get one to use as it is the Triton Classic's "preferred" method of data transfer.

The Extreme has USB data transfer so I can use a pretty big key to get PCG files in, which is handy.

Finally, in disk mode once you've dug down to the program level I believe you can audition voices directly from the disk without loading it in first (I know that's the case with the Extreme). That way you can figure out which voices you actually like in a PCG, which will speed up your selection process in trying out the (really!) thousands of voices here.

I reset my triton to "factory setting" by holding enter+0 when I turned it on -- it cleared out everything I guess as it should (I assuemd wrongly it would revert to all patches/combis it came with).

No biggie, I loaded all the banks from my 2nd Triton onto it. But my problem is I can't get the patches to stay there when I turn the power off -- how do you write them into memory? I don't want to have to Load All everytime I turn the thing on. Thansk!

Normally one would assume It's the back up battery that needs replacing. No need to save the patches per se.

If dumping whilst powered off, it's normally battery that's gone (Coin battery/Cell battery).

But I could be wrong...It does however apply to most synths out there.

Thanks! Do these things have a battery?? It's never had a problem "remembering" a patch before, not until I cleared them all out. I think I solved that problem though -- in the Global settings area there're a few checkboxes that say something like "memory ptoect" and you can check programs and combis, so I checked them and then powered off and then back on and everything stayed. I'll try unchecking them (like they were) and see if they still stay there.

Unfortunately none of that fixed my real problem -- it's making a wierd warbling sound (like a detuned flange w/ tremelo) that gets worse or better if you touch the screen in different areas; areas where there aren't even any buttons or pulldowns to select. If you apply pressure to the upper left of the screen it almost goes away (sound goes back to normal), and ir you press on the lower right it gets even worse. Any ideas?? Thanks!

I think you got a good answer regarding the battery back-up being in need of replacement. Once you download a new set of patches it should save (you'll see a notice that says "writing to memory") and that will be it.

As a "stupid check" make sure that you've checked Memory Protect OFF under the global menu. If memory protect is ON, it will prevent any saves to the Classic's menu, and you will also "lose" downloads on powering down - this is meant to keep any stray hands from accidental or malicious overwriting of your gear (something that regularly happens to demo units in music stores).

[Looks like you found that one yourself -- BB]

Re: screen problem - any idea if it might not be original to the unit? I've never seen a posting here regarding audio interference from the touchscreen. It almost sounds like there bight be some RF bleed from the screen that's being picked up and amplified. Putting in a non-compatible screen might cause that... but that's probably a call that will need to be made by a tech.

I don't know if it's original or not, I bought it used. It look stock, anyway. Have had the synth for maybe 3 years and no real problems til now.

In case this is related, 2 or 3 weeks ago I couldn't select anything using the screen -- if you tried to use a pulldown you could see it try to open a window but it would vanish almost as fast as it opened, not letting you have time to select anything. The problem just went away which made me real nervous since I knew full well that nothing was actually "fixed".

Hello everyone.
I'm new to the forum and I am also looking for the stock sounds for the Triton classic, and so far I have not seen where they can be downloaded here on the forum. Help!

Go to the just plain vanilla www.korgforums.com (no extension).

Click the tab that says downloads.

Look for the triton classic downloads section - there are 50-some files including .pcg (program/combi banks), .ksf sample files, and other goodies like screen savers.

In addition you should look around for triton specific utilities like an editor or librarian program which will help you organize and better use your synth.
