Hi,
I'm a newbie, so please bear with me. Does the Korg R3 work as a midi controller for Kontakt 4 and Reason software? It's all done via USB, correct? If I wish to record what I'm playing using a computer what software and audio interface do you guys recommend? I need software that allows me to loop and tweek sounds - I suppose all do.
I want to spend around US$ 200 on everything (except the Korg R3 and the Reason or Kotakt software, of course). Is that possible? US$ 200 for an audio interface + a recording software?
Thanks!
Regards,
Joao

it would help if you could say what OS you're using (windows, mac)
If i had to make recommendations for mac, the apogee duet + logic pro is a great combo.
usb will only transfer midi, in order to transfer audio you will need an interface correct.
and 200 isnt a good budget (someone else can chime in on that one) i had to spend like 500 for my interface (the duet) and it was worth every penny.

I've been using a small Presonus firewire with my mac Garage Band and it was and it was still 350 a couple years ago. Use logic Express and it is a bit more. Logic Pro even higher. I haven't tried it with keys but mics and guitar and mando it works well. I see no reason it wouldn't work well for keyboard audio. Still more then the 200 budget. Had I know about a duet I would have given it a serious look at the time!
I use a Behringer UCA-222 for my laptop and a M-Audio Audiophile for my desktop. Both are a good choice for me. I will will be getting a usb studio mixer from Alesis or Behringer soon though to replace both.
