Yeah man, the extreme is the business! I personally believe its still the second best korg, is you dont count oasys and put kronos on top. And that in itself still says that its better then most things other companies put out. The sounds i get out of my TEX murder sounds i hear coming out of the Fantom G and stuff.

Hi
TR is for Korg TR, its an updated version of the Triton Le
TrEx is Triton Extreme, me best Triton xD

Both models ares discontinued, so, if you can got an TrEx for a nice price, simmilar to a TR or M50, go for the TrEx

Regards
Alvaro.

One final question for you guys (honest)

Maybe this is a forbidden word in this forum but I found a brochure here from way back when I was looking at the Tritons in the music store in 2005. It's a Yamaha brochure (sorry). I remember looking at the Motif ES6, Es7 and ES8. I remember that they were pretty awesome, too. Seems to me that a lot of folks claim that the grands sound better on these. Any guidance? Better? Worse?

I can see it coming - a chorus of boo's

yamaha makes great boards
generally In my experience yamaha users usually arent power users. they play only the presets, in a way thats what the synth is designed to do. the GUI is god awful.
but the acoustic stuff sounds phenomenal. But if youre looking for an all around good synth, with actual power. Then the TEX is the way to go.

OK, looks like the TrEx (TEX as you call it) is still the way to go. Being a Mac user, having a decent GUI is what it's all about. Thanks for your reply.

Hi
The Yamaha Motif ES is a top or the line synth, like the Triton Extreme, really great sounds, but all depends if you like more the sounds on one board or the other.

About the interface... on the Korg synths, all is about the GUI... a Triton, anyone, its almost useless without the touchscreen, even the Triton Le, TR, and the X50 or MicroX depends on the screen (which is not touchscreen on that models)

By the other side, the Yamaha ES it has an awful GUI, the screen its really useless, BUT, the physical interface its the best on any board, IMO.
The Patches and Performances are almost perfectly arranged and you can select the in a really logical button layout. the learning curve is slower, but you can make patch/performance changes very quickly. For that reason the Yamaha Motifs seems to be the first choice for blinded pianist... The only problem could be if you are into editing and creating patches/performances

Regards
Alvaro.

Well, I'm back after all the questions. I found too good of a deal on a Triton LE 88 to pass up on so I bought it and I just love it. It does everything I need to do, a beautiful machine in almost mint condition with the exception of a scratch on the left corner. Owned by a family man with two children - got to know the guy and his wife who sold it to me really well. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased.

I do have one question, though - hopefully someone can help me out. I had a good chance to sit down and play with it last evening. Being a drummer, I have a tendency to hit the keys harder than most keyboard players probably do. And I notice that when using preset 000 Stereo Piano in Bank A, I get a little bit of "noise" when I hit the G key right after the middle C key (middle C being the 40th key on the keyboard if I have it right). If I play it lightly, it's okay but if I hammer it harder (not that I'm trying to break it), I get a little bit of "resonance" - almost like a "distortion" when I play the key harder. This also happens on the E and F keys to the left and on the A key to the right, and even a bit on the middle C key itself (very little on any of the black keys above these). If I get playing a progression around this part of the keyboard, I seem to get some distortion once I get going (remember that I'm a lousy keyboard player!). I hope I'm making sense. It doesn't seem to happen anywhere else on the keyboard.

Perhaps this is "normal" for the weighted keyboard - it's really not all that bad and like with anything else new (used), the first thing you do is look for problems with it. I'm hoping this isn't anything to worry about. Maybe it's a characteristic of the Triton (hopefully it's not a known defect). Just wondering if someone else with a Triton LE 88 can try tapping on these keys to see if they get the same thing using this same preset. I hope there's nothing wrong with the keys themselves. The guy I bought it from was really good and even followed up with me to see how things were working out, almost going as far as to say that if there was anything wrong with it, he'd be willing to take it back. I don't want to take it back! I love it - maybe it;s just me.

Thanks for any help and sorry for the long rambling here, still gotta grab my morning coffee yet and wake up.
