For your price range, I suggest trying to find a used Triton, Triton Studio, or preferably, a Triton Extreme. Your budget isn't high enough for a new keyboard that's as good as these.

I wouldn't recommend the X50 for live use. It's all plastic and flimsy.

I found in the bazaars only Korg TR LE 61
Korg X50 And they all sound good and would have remained valid to me and my budget.
A friend recommended me the Korg X50, so I'm embarrassed.

Could therefore LE 61?

I'd say the Triton LE is better than the X50 - but that's just my view!

The X50 has better sounds (the TR/X50/MicroX extended wave ROM) and the same synth engine, but the LE (or TR) is of a more durable construction quality.

Get the TR if you can.

Keep shopping for many, many months. The best used keyboard for you may not be on the market today. You increase your chances by patiently waiting. Be ready so that you can decide quickly when it becomes available.

While you're waiting you might be able to save up some more money. If a Triton Extreme is listed for sale, you want to be ready to buy it, as I think it would be perfect for your purposes.

The Karma is a good choice. It's like a Triton without sampling, but it still has all the effects plus two EXB slots so you can add an EXB-MOSS later on, or some EXB-PCM cards to expand the sounds. The KARMA music generation could also be useful for you. The Karma+EXB-MOSS is definitely a powerful combination. The Triton Extreme+EXB-MOSS is better, but if you can only find a Karma in your price range, I suggest you go ahead and buy it, then save up for the EXB-MOSS later on.

very late to reply, but if you havent made a choice

Hey man, metal player here, love all the bands you listed. very late to reply, but if you havent made a choice:

I suggest you to not settle for the LE or X50 or TR. They will simply NOT give you the power you need to play metal. Just in order to get those awesome nightwish strings you need 2 insert effects, the LE x50 and TR can only use one. (all tritons can use 5)

I suggest you get ANY of the tritons (except LE) (more preferable the extreme) or the karma! You will simply NOT be able to achieve any sounds commonly associated with metal.
Trust me!
And if you do, my website (in signature) has samples that are commonly used in metal (Jen's harpsichord, and Jan's bells from the downfall intro)

The MOSS board is the one that keeps Karma in my studio. Totally worth it!
