I recently got and old es1 and I'm wondering how to load all new samples. Do I have to do each one individually?
There is a 1.es file with samples on the card. Can I use that to load "E" samples? or do the samples have be in the root of the card?
If I have 2.es and 3.es samples files on the card ,how can I access them? Can each of the 9 banks have it's own set of 99 samples or do all the banks share the same samples?
It seems that some of the banks have different sounds for the same numbers in another bank. (only above #50 though).
None of this is answered in the manual that I can find. Does the esx make all this easier? thanks

I've never done any work in bank B but I'm pretty sure its the same set of samples shared across both banks.

thanks , Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology, by banks I mean the 9 files on the card after you do a golbal save. When you are in global and hit shift "card" (15) the display shows "load" Hit 15 again and you get 9 choices and E. Each one of those 9 folders or files or banks has 120 paterns and you can, It seems, have different samples for each of the nine folders. However , Maybe not, I have just stumbled on another glitch, some of the part keys in some paterns don't make any sound now, even though they are assigned a sample and are lighting up as the sequence plays , just no sound. AND when I try to assign a different sample to that part still no sound That part key is dead , but lighting up. Weird. What did I do?
You can have 99 different mono samples and i think about 50 stereo samples for each "bank".
That theres no sound on several keys could have different reasons. For example the key 2 makes no sound if on key 1 is a stereo sample. Same is with the keys 3 and and 4. An other reason could be that the samples 6 A and B "overlap". I think they're supposed to be hihat keys. They can't be played at the same time. Same is for keys 7 A and B. Hope that helped

Thanks that does help I was albe to "unfreeze" the pads by clearing the part on that pad. then the sound that was supposed to be there came back. so the overlap might have been the problem. Is there any way to bulk load samples for each bank. or do they all have to be individually assigned a number? It would be cool if I could say "I want these 75 samples to be in bank [1] and these 85 in bank [2] I guess I would have to load new samples on each time since the card wont hold that many.
Do the samples have to be loose on the card or can they be stored in folders There is a 1.es file on the card with samples on it. Is the tribe accessing that file?
Does the exs series deal with this any better?

I think you have to load every sample seperatly which takes a lot of time. At least at the ES1. I don't own an ESX so i don't know what it's like on it. The es-1 file is the complete data of one of the "banks". The saved patterns and the samples. So you have to load samples on the card then you can load them to your es1. After that you can delete it on the card. It will still be on the bank you loaded it on. Bu it's important to save this bank if you switch to an other. Otherwise all your data will be deleted. Hope i could help you
