new KP3 user!

Post by bassman60 »

Hello, I just bought a Korg Kaoss Pad 3 a couple days ago, and I am so stoked about it that I wanted to get involved with the community.

Here's a little background on myself: I've been playing guitar for 14 years and 7 days, and I have been DJing occasional house parties for the past 10 years. I just sold all of my DJ gear last month and ran out and got a Kaoss Pad. I wouldn't say I'm a bass player, but I have a cool 5-string bass.

My main musical interests are grunge, thrash, trance, hardcore breaks, and punk; and lately I've been dipping into jazz and classical.

Right now there aren't any questions or concerns I have regarding the KP3 which haven't been addressed in previous threads, but in the near future I will come up with some.

Welcome to the forum from a former "bass player"

Your in a good spot if you need help with that KP3. So are you just running your bass into it right now?

Hey Aciphecs, Thanks for the welcome. I just bought the Kaoss Pad on Monday night, and since then I've been running it with my bass, baritone guitar (my main instrument), iPod, DVD player, and by itself. This is one slick little unit.

Most definitely! I have the miniKP, which isn't even close to the KP3 but it's fun as hell.

Cool. Do you use the Mini with your Denons?

Yes I run my Denon through it :D I usually use the CD table to play sound effects, speeches, or long musical phrases that I don't want to waste precious sample time on my ESX. Fun stuff!

single deck? I was thinking of doing something like that with the KP3 - like using the sample/loop functions to blend tracks on a single cd deck. Looks like you have a pretty awesome setup.

I love my gear, it's a pretty humble setup. I got all my gear second-hand and built my own coffin. On a tight budget so I make due with what I have  Here's a link to another forum with pics of my rig...I'm at work and can't access my photos.

Scroll down to see my coffin.

I like to think so

Here's my project right now. Just me and a bandmate, he has a similar set up - Technic 12, mixer, Roland SP-404 and miniKP for more fun. We play out and record with all hardware, only use the PC to publish. Check out some of our stuff here:

We know we're not the best, but we have fun and get to play out regularly (have an "in" at a local pub that lets us do monthly shows)

Thanks man, it's tough sometimes but we manage. We're trying to get a cleaner sound from our rigs and are always looking to improve our workflow. We are pretty new to this and are a work-in-progress
