Yeah... for up to $4000, this had better be the Jupiter gene-spliced with V-Synth and mated to the Fantom with articulation, a massive slider, knob and button laden panel. and a 128 track sequencer.

Then again, the original Jupiter-8 was $6395 at launch...

Then again again, the JP-8 was fully analog... D'OH! Someone already said that...

I guess we'll see.

Rumors on the nord forum is that clavia's surprise is the Nord Wave 2.

Dream Nord Wave 2 features: Two engine types (Nord lead/wave & Nord Modular), More multitimbrality, more voices, arpegiator, Total Integration, and supersexy red/black Hardware interface.

I had a Nord Wave and it had very nice FM capabilties and it was extremely easy to use! I hope they got this even better.

FM is what got me interested in Kronos in the first place.

I have to say - the prospect of a Jupiter80 is getting awfully exciting. Depending on innovative performance features, this could be significant.

Certainly the V-Synth GT is among the very best live-performance synthesizer to come along since the CS80; and if any of that traverses to a 6-octave dedicated polysynth; this is could to be one hell of a players instrument. Very different to Kronos I know, but to me, very, VERY exciting.

The plot thickens.....

While I'd agree with Sina's sentiment, a caveat is in order.

Perhaps one of the very best VAs made, the Alesis Ion, used most of its DSP resources to properly rendering oscillator and filter behavior, and thus only had eight note polyphony. The later Fusion did up the ante to 128 voices, but most VAs these days top out at around 32 voices. The epic Radias only has 24. So it depends on what Roland hopes to accomplish. If it's a pure VA, it might top out at 32 voices, maybe 48 if we're lucky. But as with all things Roland, we'll see.

Okay, my hope for a juiced up Fantom with a JD-9000 in it has renewed hope. I hope. Wow, that sounds dumb. But now, all those instruments and the VA-style sounds gushing from the teaser trailer make more sense. Even if this is just a Roland version of the Kurzweil PC3, a rompler with one or two VA engines thrown in, as long as it's cool, that would be... uhm, cool.

Yeah, dumb again. But I'm expecting something on the order of the Fantom X unveiling some years ago. This should be tasty.
