Sv1 Organ Sounds

Post by dlrshort »

A lot has been written about the Sv1 organ sounds being weak. Just wondering whether people on the forum think the sound pack 1 or 2 is better for the organ selections?

I don't bother with them I've overwritten the Organ sounds with ones I Like..(But thats mainly because I have the Tonewheel organ engine on the Oasys)

I just find even with the rotary efx, they sound lame, and its kind of not the same using weighted keys for organ licks it doesn't feel so natural,I reckon Korg could have competed with the Nords if they worked on the organs more,it lets it down, when everything else about the SV is pure inspirational both from a sound and playing perspective.

the location of the Rotary buttons/Dials is not designed well, controlling it with a pedal is a workaround but I guess being spoilt with having a Joystick on a synth to control the Rotary speed feels more comfortable for me.

That aside I love the SV-1 dearly, and I write/Compose solely on it since getting it,I do wish Korg would include some mellotron type flutes/Choirs in a new soundpack that would be lush alongside the Melly type strings and solina strings already in there.

I like the organs on pack 2 better.

Not as good as a dedicated clone but I can't say they're bad.

Organ sound

Post by Joni »

I like a lot the organs sounds of the SV-1. Especially the Vox organ sound. But until now I didn´t find a way to make it sound "rusty" like the Ray Manzerek´s hammond in "The changeling" (LA Women) :( . Maybe I´m not good working on the editor or maybe it´s impossible. In that case I would like to suggest Korg to add it in the next sound pack. If someone have any suggesting or comment I would appreciate a lot! :)
