Copying program to combo with effects?

Post by Relicanth »

I am trying to make a combi with an edited paino sound with effects on one side of the split and the wikis lead on the other. When I just copy the wikis program over to the combi without effects it's obviously not as powerful as it is in program mode. But if I copy the effects over then the piano sound looses it's effect and becomes much dimmer. Anyway that I can get it so both effects coincide?? Cheers

Relicanth,

You need to look at two things: How many, and where.

How many insert effects are being used to beef up the sounds.

Where are the effects located (insert vs. master). Most program characteristics will depend on insert effects.

------------

You want to keep as many effects the same as possible.

First, copy your piano with effects if it is the MAIN sound - or the lead if it is the main thing you want to hear.

Whatever's left in combi inserts is what you have to work with.

------- based on triton // m50 should be same ------------

I believe you'll have a 'copy from' automation in the insert effects pull-down menu that lets you just copy the inserts from a particular program. If that's so, you need to direct it to an empty insert slot (i.e., 1 becomes 4, 2 becomes 5) -- you can also do this manually just by writing what the effect / values are and entering them.

Remember you will also need to route the program voices to their insert effects.

--------------

Most of the stereo (dual) effects also have a mono version, and some doubled effects (like EQ+Compression) take up only one slot. See where you can cut down or substitute effects to save / stretch insert slots.

Hope this helps,
