Dumb post, probably, but need help!

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

Dumb post, probably, but need help!

Post by TerenceWatts »

After I've edited a song in Cubasis, how on earth to I get it back into the M50? I'm assuming that I need to, if I'm to create an MP3 file, or even listen to it properly, since it sounds different when playing in Cubasis.

Also, has anybody successfully got the plug-in editor to work in Sonar Home Studio 7?

As I say, probably a dumb question but I'm new to this wonderful bit of kit (ond a bit old myself!)

From cubase, save your sequence as a standard MIDI file (Format 1) ... should end with .MID - how does it sound different when you play it back from Cubase? It shouldn't.

then in Media Mode on the M50, enter Storage Mode, and you can transfer the sequence to your M50's SD card. you can load that sequence into the M50's sequencer from there.

I don't have Sonar home studio, but I've gotten the M3's plugin editor to work with Sonar XL Studio version 6, and now with Sonar X1 Studio. I've just found it more useful to do without it. maybe i'm doing something wrong :P

Excellent - thanks a lot!

I asked about Sonar because I'm very familiar with that one already and I use the staff/piano roll for editing and you can't do that in M50 Editor (or if you can, I haven 't found it yet;I've only had the M50 four a few days).

The different sound in Cubase was my error - when I concentrated properly on what I was doing it was ok :)

Thanks for your time.

I don't think Korg M50's create MP3 files.

No, it can't, but the audio from the M50 can be routed through the soundcard input to my sound editing and recording software...

I have to get it back into the Korg first, though!

Here is how I make MP3 recording with the Korg M50.

From the M50 I plug into a TASCAN DP2 8 track portable recording studio.
I love the Tascan DP-2 and would highly recommend it to everyone.
1) It converts the Korg file format into a file format that my Sony Studio computer software can easily deal with, there is no degradation in sound or funny MIDI sounds created, it is true Korg sound.
2) With the TASCAN I can record stereo voice singing which you cannot do in the Korg.

From the TASCAN I export my tracks into my computer where the Sony Music Studio software does everything els. converts to MP3, Burns CD, exports to Windows Movie Maker for me to add my video and then it's off to UTube and I'm done.

I wish the Korg would burn MP3 CD's internally and let me add voice audio tracks but the Tascan / sony tag team does a nice job for me, no complaints so far.

Also I forgot to mention that the TASCAN will burn MP3 CD's right there by itself if you want, I personally export the files into Sony Software because I like the ease of final mixing, fine tuning and adding additional prerecorded tracks for special effects using the computer screen which I find makes it really easy for me when I can "SEE" the music as I'm finalizing it.

FYI - Korg D3200 and D1600 also burn Mp3 CDs straight from the unit. 8)

My deepest apologies for extomporising on the very subject you brought up.

What EXACTLY has the TASCAM (it's tascam not tascan) got to do with the M50? Now - in the past - or the future? Other than you might have one hooked up to it?

Additionally - what has sony software got to do with the M50? Maybe there's something you know that no-one else on this forum knows; so please do tell!

Anyway - on two subjects that YOU bring up - you deride me for expanding on one of your YOUR diversions.

Enjoy your M50 and your Tascan (whatever that is)... I'll leave you to it.

By the way Korg D series totally wipes the floor with Tascam (correct trade name) - so good luck!

PS - it's not about the M50. It's about midi transfer. The last time I looked there are several keyboards on the market that are capable of such a thing - some of them are not even Korgs! Unless you're saying that you can only do midi transfer with an M50?
