Though it wasn't in direct relation to the news of the Kronos in Jan, I have already sold my PC3x and M3-73 because they didn't cut it for me as "killer trifecta" Piano/Organ/Analog keyboards (the piano was the primary culprit in both cases).

I would've probably tried a Nord if it weren't for the Kronos news.

After getting the Kronos, I'll have to decide if I want to keep my DW8000 and Mossy Karma, among other things.

I sold my nord stage compact for this, a couple of days ago. I'll need to add some $$ naturally.
I didn't want to sell my PolyEvolver for this, that's for sure.
As a matter of fact, along with the Kronos 73, i'm adding a moog slim phatty. So to continue the discussion on the "pimp my kronos" thread - i guess (and hope) the slim phatty can sit on that empty space on the right of the Kronos.

I will sell M3, Wavestation SR and XV-3080 (don't use the XV anymore, all I need from it is sampled and now lives in my M3). HD-1 replaces all three..

I made the horrible misstake of selling my K5000S a few years ago.. but I'm guessing I will be able to make some of the sounds I miss with MOD-7 ..

Sold Yamaha Motif ES8 (was selling anyway around the time the Kronos was announced) and sold my Korg Poly-61. I was selling these anyway. I did not intend to buy more gear though.

I am selling nothing. I figure if I don't have th cash on hand at the time I'll just wait. I lived without it this long another year won't matter much.

I'm never selling another keyboard for as long as I live, too many regrets.
Really looking forward to owning a Kronos 73.

I'm sorry, but I believe you won't be able to reproduce additive sounds with a FM synth (I own a K5000W and a FS1R). You could come close for *certain* sounds, but the K5K is the only synth which allows to control the evolution of every harmonic over time independently of the other harmonics, and which can 'morf' between two sounds by interpolating the amplitude of the corresponding *harmonics* (which is very different from the interpolation of the amplitude of the *waveforms* you can find in the PPGs/Waldorfs or in the Wavestation). The K5K is also the only synth that has a formant filter that can evolve over time in a controlled way.
________

What I can read in this thread confirms what I already knew:
If you own a synth with a very specific synth engine or a very specific sound character, don't sell it or you'll regret it!
Sharp wrote:[...] Your also assuming that everyone is in the financial position to hold onto their old keyboards and still buy the KRONOS when that's simply not going to happen for most. [...]
I understand your point of vue. Unfortunately, quite often when you want to sell your 10+ years old synth in mint condition all you can get for it is a dirty cheap price, and when you're looking for the same synth on the used market, all you can find is expensive crap that has not been well taken care off . So, I would prefer to wait and to save money rather than to sell my old gear for next to nothing.

Ah! now you make me miss it even more! :)
The sounds I was thinking of getting from MOD-7 is harsh "digital" sounds with no or little harmonic movements. Some of that I managed to get from my Z1 with only 2 VPM oscillators, the rest can only be obtained by bying a K5000 again.. If I ever could find a K5000R..

An additive EXi is a nice dream ..

Already sold my Triton Extreme 61, Alesis Micron and one of my microKORGs (the original, standard color-scheme version; keeping my reverse-color key version). I'll be selling the following for sure since the Kronos pretty well replaces them:

Roland JV-2080
Roland Dance SX expansion card for the JV-series
Roland SH-32
Roland JS-30
Yamaha DX200
Yamaha SY-35
Yamaha TG-33
Yamaha A3000

Let the good tunes roll!

I'm not sure I will purchase the Kronos, but if I do, here's what I'm considering on selling:

- Roland V-Synth
- Roland Fantom X6
- Korg Triton Extreme 61
