Read the damn manual.
Does anyone read the manual for their hardware/software anymore?? I cannot believe how many questions are asked that take less then a minute to look in the manual. If you have to ask how to do something look in the manual first. You obviously have time to do so if you are taking the time to ask questions.

Apparently not!DaniH wrote:Does anyone read the manual for their hardware/software anymore??
I've just finished answering a post where someone apparently threw out their manual. No clue what to do... I recommended downloading a .PDF copy and even gave a link to the site.
People are too lazy!

That was my breaking point. I was going to refer him to the manual but f*ck it. I will only help those who help themselves. Unless it is something I really want to help with.Synthoid wrote:Apparently not!DaniH wrote:Does anyone read the manual for their hardware/software anymore??

Apparently, people discard the manual with the box the keyboard came in. Two other issues that come up from time to time are also amusing.
One is the question, "Can I transfer sounds from my Roland (or whatever else) synth to my Korg synth?" And then there are folks who say they broke some keys and need repair. I often ask, "What? Did you throw the keyboard down the steps?"

p.s. the profe of it is people like "ozy" and others, while he and others think that thay have advence intellegence, i really don't know any chiken which accepts that it is stupid... at list i did not see and hear about it....
so the story go on and 2011 most all humanty lives in stone age while it is possible to do right now even with current awailable technologies so much more and better to improve the life....
but people who looking so stronly "for right now profit" forget about future so as result, thay ruin future very much

Don't even get me started on that.
I'm also surprised at the lack of an experimental attitude in approaching a new keyboard. Sometimes the only way to really understand a feature is to use it.

My EMX manual is in German
so is my micro-korg manual
.... I do have them English in PDF format... but reading them on my laptop hurts my eyes... so i'd rather ask inane questions on here and wait weeks hurting my eyes reading posts for them to be answered with "did you read the manual?"
bottom line: RTFM! and after that... read it again... and then in times of need refer to it! if all else fails... check its on... check all connections... turn all knobs... press all buttons... then search forums for posts on your problem... failing that... then and only then ask for help
PS: i dont follow my own advice

well Mike, I subscribe to the RTFM doctrine, mikemolloyuk wrote:Spent my career in Korg support wondering that..!
but if I may say a word...
... Korg insiders should also keep in mind HOW manuals are written before they put that F in RTFM.
I am not a noob, I have survived yamaha Japanglish manuals,
but some legal documents pale in comparison to the M3's reference guide...

Sometimes you have to remind people that the manual wasn't included merely for use as packing material.

they publish "user manuals" for languages as well.
They are called "Grammars" and "Dictionaries",
and you are badly in need of RAFG and RAFD:
(READING A f*ck*ng GRAMMAR AND A f*ck*ng DICTIONARY)
There are two solitudes here. Those who are musicians and those who are tweakers/knob twiddlers/geeks with an interest in messing about with sounds, effects, etc. If you're a hybrid of the two then I suppose you're in some nirvanic state.
If, however, like me, you're a musician first then knob twiddling is not your first interest. So there's no need for the knob tweakers to get their knickers in a twist over this. Just be honoured that mere musicians ask of your particular expertise. If, however, you wonder why an acoustic piano, you know the precursor to all your electronics and a sound after which you all lust, has three pedals, just ask? Or, better yet, google literature on piano history and read the f***ing text - no electronic knowledge required.
Are you still with me, chilly7?
Edit: I just glanced through a couple of your posts on the other thread. I already have you down as a wingnut. Congratulations.
