Kronos nylon

Post by ddavilyx »

Hi folks. I have a problem with Kronos. Let's talk bread and butter. All electronic sounds are great. The German Grands are some of the greatest piano sounds ever! Korg listened to the piano guys, but what about the violin guys and the acoustic guitar guys. The sounds of the nylons and Steel guitars are not what I expected at all. They don't even compare to the original classic motif. Sorry, let me introduce myself. I am a pianist, keyboardist, drummer, bass, and guitar musician. I started playing piano since the 4th grade.

So KORG, if you're listening, I know that you guys know, there are many types of users out there. Some for beats, some for strings, some for pianos, but some for everything. I'm an everything kinda guy. I can mimic electric guitars, flamenco nylons, acoustic steels, and violins etc. But 9 engines and the only thing good is the piano. Talk to me people.

Maybe he owns one but he has not yet figured out how to set it up.

tip 1: open the box first.

What I do is play my guitar when I lay down tracks. I have never heard a good guitar program that sounds entirely realistic.

Lucky for you that you play all of those instruments. Just play the real thing or sample your guitar(s).

Given this opinion you obviously are not in the market for a Kronos. Perhaps you might be happier with another product from a different manufacturer.

Haha.. I knew I was going to stir up a hornets net. Look people, I know how to record a guitar through the AD input. Please stop looking at me as the enemy here just because you got a little but hurt about Kronos. I'm just talking about guitars and violins that were sampled. Can you honestly tell me that they sound real? Have you even heard samples from motifator.com? That's real. All i want is to hear Korg admit that they couldn't do it. And yes, my friend owns a Kronos. I've been messing with it and found a lot of eye candy.

the OP is quite right at least about the acoustic guitars. I dont know if he is being mischevious or not but I am certainly not a troll. I also dont own a Kronos but so far from the demos i have heard online concerning acoustic nylon guitar type sounds they are not top notch.

That opinion should not be thrown out of hand or demonized unnecessarily . i heard one played in Jamal Hartwells demo and it was quite poor and i was quite taken a back. I would love to own a kronos for all kinds of reasons but if you listen to http://www.youtube.com/user/GospelMusic ... PVVu0rgRKY at 4.12 you will hear an example of what the OP was saying. I know Jamal is a keyboard player and he is playing this nylon string guitar ( i think) like a piano but it sounds poor compared to even the lowest PSR yamaha.

Now let me make this clear , its only one sound and i probably would not be as bold to say that all the guitars were poor as i have not heard them all.

I will also say that i know korg is capable of making better guitars as i own the PA1X and it has a better nylon string guitar than the one in the example above as does any of the Korg arranger products.

In short. Listen to the example above and then give an honest opinion and lets stop worshiping a frigging piece of clever electronics that makes overall lovely sounds. We dont have to get stupid about it. The Kronos is not all things to all people . But its a very exciting new keyboard but lets not get it twisted. There is plenty room for improvement in some areas .
