no touch screen control
I purchased a used trinity plus in good condition. I did the 0-Enter-turn on thing to get back to the factory settings. So I thought. Now the touch screen does not work. I have the factory sounds disc, but cannot load it because I cannot press ok on the screen. What do I do? Please help. This is a birthday gift for my son.

Hi Miller, Enter+0 (when powering up) should only have erased the programmed sounds. That said, have you tried doing it again?
Does the touchscreen illuminate and display graphics, or doesn't it illuminate at all?
Technical info (please read before you do anything below): http://eddy.deegan.org/faq.html
You may wish to try Enter+5 (when powering up) to access the Trinity's test-mode. This will also reset the programmed sounds.
Failing that you could possibly try re-installing the OS again. You would need OS version 2.4.1 for the Trinity Plus. To reinstall the OS you need two high-density floppy disks. Then you need to download the OS itself here: http://www.korg.com/uploads/Download/Tr ... 590000.zip
....Download the above file, unzip it, and then execute the two files to create two floppy disks with OS v2.4.1.
To put the Trinity into Operating System Update Mode, switch off the Trinity, then switch it on while holding the 'ENTER' and 'RESET' buttons at the same time. It will then ask you to insert the operating system update disks.
If you manage to get it all working again, then you can download the "Factory PreLoad" programmed sounds here: http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=453

Well, not sure if this would work if you can't press any graphic buttons on the touchscreen.MillerTheMixer wrote:Do I need to re-calibrate my screen? How do I do that?
Normally you would press the main Global button on the Trinity to display the global menu on the screen, then you'd press the graphic button at the very top-right of the screen (to the right of where it says Global Setup) to display a drop down Page Menu, and then select Touch Panel Calibration.

I think this is for minor calibration, not for actual touchscreen problems, unless it's wildly off. Have you tried any of the other suggestions?

it isss possible. However more then likely you just need to open it up, unplug the touch screen, and plug it back in.. that always fixed it for me!

Failing all the software troubleshooting (as above), I'd open it up and check the cabling as Robin suggested.
I should change the battery myself one of these fine days. They do say to replace it every 10 years (I think). As far as I can remember is a standard CR2032 battery. However I can't remember reading if you can flip it out or if it's soldered in.

trinity touch screen not responding
I bought one of these once also. It wasn't a touch screen. I also bought one that, was stuck in one position because a sharp object hit the screen and was holding it one spot. it sounds like someone sold you one with a regular screen. if you feel like your just touching a piece of glass you probably are. then i ordered one from pinnacle express and they sent me one with the wrong ribbon attatchment. so if you buy a new one make sure someone can verify everything. WARNING! these trinitys have been passed around so much, all the stuff ripped out and resold its ridiculous. and thats not even the beginning. you cant see that the keys inside are chipped, the motherboards have glitches, output jacks are failing, joysticks falling apart. people have stolen any valueable parts and kept them for themselves and sell all the worst parts on ebay. it's the biggest game on ebay. WTF pro keyboard with no options? they were taken out and sold seperately. THE TRINITY IS TOTALLY USELESS WITHOUT THE TOUCHSCREEN. there is no way to navigate anything.

Re: trinity touch screen not responding
This is my second one and my first was bought online almost mint with nothing touched inside what so ever. I added a PBS-TRI to it and it's still rock solid to this day. I just got a second one with the V3 and 76 keys; it's a bit rough cosmetically because of its stage life but like my first one I'm pretty sure I was the first to pull the cover on it when I swapped in the PBS-TRI from my Plus. It too works flawlessly touch screen and all and it's an amazing palette of sonics.Spacecowboy wrote:WARNING! these trinitys have been passed around so much, all the stuff ripped out and resold its ridiculous. and thats not even the beginning. you cant see that the keys inside are chipped, the motherboards have glitches, output jacks are failing, joysticks falling apart. people have stolen any valueable parts and kept them for themselves and sell all the worst parts on ebay. it's the biggest game on ebay. miller,
If the trapezoid bezel is too tight, or if there is dirt along the screen edge it can put hold pressure against the glass. The thin strip of tape gets compressed and dirty too.
Start the trinity and watch any of the touch points like the triangle, text box or button. If any changes contrast (like it is pushed) then there is too much pressure on the glass in that corner.
Gently lift the bezel away from the glass. I used my fingernails on each side. Clean with a toothpick the gap between the glass and the bezel.
Re-start your trinity. You should get enough time to global 1 calibrate.
I'd did this on my Trinity. The lines went away and the screen works. I clean the bezel glass every month or so.
Enjoy, Sam
