XMS-64 usb stick

Post by Willem H »

Is ther anyone who can tell me something about the xms-64 usb stick . I was reading the specs on the xprodata side but it didn't answere all my questions.

The 512 xms sounds from the xms-64 usb stick are stored next to the PA-800 sounds(factory and user)

Image

But where are the 361 multisamples, 689 drum samples, 348 drumkit and over 400 styles stored.
Is all the data stored inside the PA-800 or is the PA-800 reading all the data from the usb stick .
In other words , how those the xms-64 usb stick effect the empty user and favorite places and sample memory inside the PA-800.

Please help me, thank you

Hi Willem,

I've for about 2 weeks ago installed the XMS stick in my Pa2xPro.

All the other sounds are installed in the Pa style / sound banks.

Before installing the Stick you should make a backup from your
complete settings etc.

The XMS stick is overwriting the existing factory styles and sounds
you can recognize them at the X extension before the sound.

The drumkist you will find in the XMS1 DK bank at the left on the screen,
just below the XMS 2 bank map.

About the styles:

1. All intern styles are getting a makeover.
2. All favorite and user banks ar full with new styles and STS.

About the sounds:

1. the XMS 1 and the XMS 2 banks both have a A and B map
2. In the user map you will also find great sounds.

My Pa2 has really became a new Pa2. It's incedible what this stick
did to my Pa2. I've become a lot of compliments about the new sounding
Pa2 while performing.

Regards,

Ron.

XMS-64 USB Stick

Post by derek bradburn »

Hello,
Re the enquiry recently from Willem in the Netherlands about the XMS-64.
This is the first I have heard of this. Can anyone tell me what is on it it, where I can buy one, the price etc.? and is it any good.?.
I have searched the Korg website and can't find any mention of it.
It sounds as though it might be just what I am looking for.

Hi Derek,

I am sure that you wil like the new sounding keyboard.
In the favorite banks are all new revoiced internal but also
complete new styles. Also there are a lot of new user styles.

Before I bought the stick I performed with user styles from Korg
Germany ( really good quality ) and some styles from Jurgen Sartorius, the
guy who represents Korg in Germany, that I've purchased from him.

Now I have reprogrammed my complete stage settings in my Pa2 and I
play for 98 % with the styles from the stick. Comdbined it with the
new sounds and man what a incredible sound and the styles are
great, you can play a lot of songs with them.

How tested is this product? I certainly don't want to screw up my perfectly great 2x installing something that could infect the system. Do I need more ram for this? Can it be used externally? Does it overwrite existing data in favor of it's new matrix(sorry...borrowed that from Star Trek II, The Wrath of Khan)? Anyway, I need more feedback from users before I plunk down $650 and cancel my 3x order! What's your opinion, Pete? :?: :? Thanks, Liongold :verycool:

Hi Liongold,

read my answer at Willem above.

The product is well tested en developed by proffesional German
programmers.

Here the link from the site, it's in German language but you can also
send them a email http://www.xprodata.de/deutsch/produkte ... -pa2x.html

You don't need more ram for it, in my Pa2 is the standard ram memory
and it works super.

You can't compare those two.

They are completely different from each other.

Hello Ron,
I got the USB-XMS stick yesterday, I installed it following instructions, but what a bad surprise when I started my PA2X PRO!!

The PA when starts I see in the display "Loading OS 2.01" .Of course I kept the stick in the USB Port

The BALANCE slider works reverse and no more visible the magnified version of the virtual slider in the display when you move it

No particulary enancehemet on the existing styles and I had to load manually the styles form the stick

You wrote that the XMS stick is overwriting the existing factory styles but it did not happened.

The overall volume of kbd is lower than the original version

What had gone wrong ? Because during installation I did not get any warning message

Could you give my some help 'cause I'm very sad for that. Thousand Thanks
Attilio

Hi Atillio,

strange that you have these problems.

did you put the stick in the usb port at the back or at the top.
the stick has to be placed at the top not at the back.

Did you load the two files in the right way?

I've forwarded your problem to Dirk Schurmans who has helped me
out with the stick. He knows more about the stick than I do.
